Shiki to get additional episodes on final DVD/Blu-rays photo

If you've been keeping up with Annotated Anime every week (or in some cases every couple of weeks) you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Shiki, the vampire-horror show where only the good die young and the sun actually kills blood suckers. With the end of the show coming up this week, Uri-Sure Matome R reports that the eighth and ninth DVD/Blu-rays will each come with an unaired episode when they're on May and June of 2011.

These unaired episodes, numbered 20.5 and 21.5 respectively, are part of an already sweet special edition that comes with a CD, a pinup, a message from one of the characters and package design by the original manga artist Ryu Fujisaki and character designer Shinji Ochi. The previous seven volumes have had special items like these, but have lacked extra episodes.

Typically, I get annoyed when they add extras episodes set during the show, but I'm not so bothered this time around. There's a lot going on right now in Shiki, so giving some extra info about side characters in OVAs isn't a bad idea. If the last two episodes don't explain it, I hope the OVAs go into what Yuki has been doing to help Toshio orchestrate the fall of the vamps. Anybody else looking forward to more Shiki in six months?

Two things.
1) HELL.
2) YES.
For a split second I thought this was something on Kara no Kyoukai. Wondering how much one more BD would bump up the already daunting price.
Shiki is one hell of an anime that I love to watch. The anime is so concentrated to its story and concept so it wont really be a bother if they release side-stories to strengthen the character of a few side characters. It would also help us understand each point of view of characters.... that is as long as the extra episode is something like that and not just some filler OVAs~

I still can't wait to uncover more about Shiki's storyline~ Shiki is a precious gem to me~(although I'm not really into vampire stuff)
I'm defiantly looking forward to more Shiki! Hopefully Funimation will have some news on when we can expect our own DVD/BD releases. Hopefully Yen Press or someone will pick up the manga and light novel as well.
I'm sure I'd be happy to watch more Shiki but like every special episode released several months after the end of the anime, I'm sure I'll completely forget to check it out...
