Shonen Jump Alpha serializes Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration photo

The first time I heard of Rurouni Kenshin wasn't from some Samurai X OVA, it was from an extremely early issue of the US Shonen Jump, highlighting popular series from Weekly Shonen Jump. After the anime started airing on Toonami, Viz announced they had acquired the manga, and after they included a preview of the first chapter in the magazine, I was hooked. I bought the twenty-eight and last volume a few years ago, happy to complete my collection.

Now, Viz is serializing Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration, the new remake manga based on the plot of the upcoming film, in Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha. It starts in this week's issue, which is available now. As usual, issues of the magazine are 99 cents each, with a 48-week subscription for $25.99. And while it's cool that Viz is making it easy to get a digital copy of the manga only two weeks after it appears in Japan, I think I'm going to sit this one out. Maybe I'd read it if it was included in the print version of Shonen Jump that was killed earlier this year...

Even with "all-new twists and turns," I've read Kenshin already, and I'm sure any changes will just end up irritating me. But I'm not everybody. Are you excited to revisit the adventures of Hitokiri Battousai?
