Hunter x Hunter Episode 45
The Phantom Troupe certainly like to show they are capable, don't they? Uvogin may have been captured by a quick-thinking Kurapika, but it doesn't take long for the other members to give chase. Again, it was no surprise that the other Shadow Beast members were picked apart so quickly, especially when Uvogin showed his head was enough to beat three of the members. I still think Kurapika would have been more cautious about checking if they were being tailed, but hey, no one is perfect.
Seems Kurapika made a timely exit too, meeting everyone's favourite sadistic clown. I'm certainly interested in seeing where a partnership between Kurapika and Hisoka is heading, especially when the Troupe is involved. It even seems that Hisoka has an actual reason for the truce, rather than some obscure reason to creep out over Gon or something, so that's a bonus. If the Troupe leader is even marginally as strong as his followers (which of course, you'd hope he would be), I think Hisoka and Kurapika will be getting quite the wake-up.
I feel Uvogin will be meeting Kurapika before this happens though, and let's not forget about Gon, Killua and Leorio. They must be getting pretty bored waiting around.

One Piece Episode 561 & 562
The final pairings are made for the Straw Hats back on Fishman Island. There are a couple of silly moments, the best involving a special headbutt delivered to the sole of the foot. A powerful technique indeed! Out in the water, Shirahoshi realizes that Hordy is trying to get Noah to fall onto her homeland, so she jukes off to the side. Hordy tries to stop her, but her brothers and Luffy manage to keep him from catching up. Unfortunately, Decken knocks himself out, which means that Noah stops following the mermaid princess and starts falling back toward the island.
Following that, Hordy manages to remove the air from Noah, rendering Luffy unable to deal a solid blow to Hordy. Fukaboshi jumps in to try and deal with Hordy, but he gets taken out by the 'roided out fishman. However, we find out that Fukaboshi set up a massive bubble to be sent out just in case Hordy took out the one on Noah. During all this, Hordy downs another handful of the energy steroids and now resembles a giant slab of meat. We're promised a reveal of who Hordy really is, but that has to wait until next week.
Fairy Tail Episode 146
Last week we had left off with some crazy stuff happening at Zentopia, like Lucy being plugged into some weird thing to have her life sacrificed, Ichiya taking Fairy Tail members to go save her (and Natsu), and Mirajane tackling Racer.
Well, Mirajane handled Racer rather quickly with her beautiful blue and white demon takeover. Of course, it happened with the usual shonen finesse - she told Racer he was running away from something, and he could just knock it off already. Racer cries - end scene.
Ichiya ends up having to sacrifice himself and the new ship in order for our buddies to go on to the next stage, though we know that he's going to survive. Even Erza comments, no matter how stupid the situation, he'll survive. What I hate about Ichiya's character is that for being such a badass, we never really see him show his powers. I guess part of what makes him fun is the mystery, but even Gildarts, a goofball to boot, has had a show of power.
Natsu and Coco encounter that stupid Cleaner, but it's all good because Hughes has had it with him. She attacks him with her wand and diverts him long enough for the new buddies to get through. They go straight to the Cardinal, who has already been met by Gildarts and Laki. And then joined by none other than Byro, who is pissed off he's been used and lied to. Going from the next episode preview, despite the fact that Gildarts gave the cardinal a one-two punch from hell with Byro's help, he isn't done yet. The preview showed him fighting with the Fairy Tail members again, so I guess we'll see what reason he's got to not join them next time.
Finally, we've got Lucy, who has now learned that Imitatia has a thing for her, or something. It appears that "Michelle" has grown attached to Lucy in some way, and she states that though her guildmates have come to retrieve her, they'll all die at her hand because nobody can have Lucy but her. Pretty strong fighting words coming from an oversized plant, but my assumption is Natsu will have his way with her eventually and he'll get Lucy back. Maybe Lucy will manage to save Imitatia or something, too.
The only other factors here for next time are the other two Oracion Seis members who are en route to fight Fairy Tail. I'm going to assume that Erza, Gajeel, Wendy, etc. will be left to handle Cobra and Angel. I wonder when Cobra's snake is going to factor into all this, though? Is she going to somehow show up at Zentopia and turn back into his faithful reptile?
More fighting, less drama, please!

Naruto Shippuden episode 277
A thinly disguised clip show covers a brief conversation between the Nine-Tails and Naruto. As ever, Naruto's a confident, upbeat dude with ambitions for changing the world.
Not that we didn't already know that, so let's move on.
One Piece Chapter 678 & 679
Now that the petrifying gas has covered the area around the lab, the pirates and Marines are stuck in the same room together. Frictions remain high, but everybody deices that working together is a much better idea at the moment. Oh, and Law puts Sanji and Nami back in their proper bodies, much to Sanji's chagrin. Their survival doesn't go unnoticed, as Caesar, Mona and Virgo pick up the fact that everybody survived. Caesar decides to take out a couple of the walls in his lab to let the gas in an take out the intruders. Virgo decides to get personally involved and take out Law and Smoker.
While one of Caesar's henchmen fills him in on what's going on, we see Chopper haul ass out of the lab toward an exit with the plans for the drug. Mona seems to have seen the little reindeer. Hmm, I wonder if she's the one who helped him out earlier. Anyway, the G-5 Marines decide to try and capture the Straw Hats, but they find that they are way outclassed by Zoro and Co. Tashigi manages to stop Zoro from slaughtering her men. Unfortunately, a cannon blows out the side of the building and most of the G-5 get petrified.
Naruto chapter 599
It's one chapter for the big six-double-oh, and in anticipation we get a practically text-less illustration of a reveal that no one above the age of eight did not see coming. Yep, Tobi is Obito.
I imagine that chapter 600 will spend its anniversary time explaining just why Obito's got this hare-brained plan in mind.
More intriguing this week is the pictorial saga of the young man's life, and we see just how much Kakashi, Rin and Obito were more or less the proto versions of Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto, respectively, all the way down to personality archetypes and general competence, though notably Obito at least made Chunin before getting pulped by a boulder.
Now, it's time to speculate! How did Obito survive being half-pulped by a giant boulder? My theory is that his Sharingan awoke the proto-Kamui power just as the big cave collapsed, leaving Obito to spend some time in his alternate dimension reflecting on how awful the world is and formulate a plan to "fix" all that misery.
Prove me wrong, Naruto!
Bleach chapter 505
Sadly for fans of in-depth commentary and analysis, there's not much to say here, either. General Yamamoto is now thoroughly pissed, and the Soul Reapers are rallying after 3-odd months of constantly being on the back foot.
It's doubtful that this'll lead to any truly concrete gains. The Soul Reapers' bankais are still off the table and Ichigo's still stuck in his little energy hamster ball. Further, it looks like the big bad Quincy king's managed to wipe the floor with Kenpachi. If anything, the Quincy king could conceivably wipe the floor with Yamamoto as well, and bring everything to an even lower low.
But that's to be speculated upon in future chapters, for now, black is back, baby.
