Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces takes off January 12 photo

And now that I know this fact, I have decided, before playing it, that Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces is going to suck. It's going to suck because it is coming out on January 12th, and I won't be in a position to actually play it until at least January 16th. And after watching the film, I've never been more excited about getting my hands on this Wii game.

Of course, this raises questions as to why I'd actually want to play the game following the film, as its existence is ostensibly a great exercise in missing the point, but to that I respond with this question: "Weren't those dogfighting scenes totally sweet?"

Because they were. And that's exactly what I would want from a Sky Crawlers video game. Watching a kid carefully fold his newspaper for fifteen seconds is best left to the film. Besides, from what I hear, the game's narrative setup places it in a comfortable niche, mercifully spared with the burden of being meaningful.

Still, it's going to suck. The only way now that they can convince me otherwise prior to my actually playing it is to confirm the presence of a Basset Hound, as shown in the picture above.

That is your challenge, Project Aces and XSEED. Confirm the Basset Hound.

... The flying scenes consisted of less than a quarter of the movie, and the rest of the movie was boring as hell and pointless. Many, MANY scenes of people just sitting around doing absolutely nothing except drinking beer and smoking cigarettes...
It almost became the first time I took a movie back and asked for a refund since I watched Napoleon Dynamite (and in that case I should have known better since I only watched it off of an idiot friend's recommendation).

That said, the game should be at least decent so long as it keeps to the flying scenes.
That's actually the point of the movie itself, I'd have to argue.
The Bassett Hound is an unlockable pilot maybe (ears flapping in the breeze)?

The guys behind Ace Combat are partly behind this, so I'll add it to my list of games to pick up if I get a Wii.

I've been playing a JPN import of the game, and it controls really well and looks pretty alright, actually. It'll be cool to finally be able to buy it (again) once it hits North America.

I can't read a word of moon . . .
I'm Heero Yuy. The movie kinda stunk. It was pretty much characters sitting around drinking smoking and having sex while some of them contemplated the meaning of life. Then the build up of an epic battle turns into someone getting dominated and no real resolution to any questions that may have arisen.
