Soul Eater English dub makes me drool from the corner of my mouth

There's a new Soul Eater clip from FUNi featuring the English dub action we've all been waiting on. It kind of sucks that the first almost third of the video has no speech in it, but we'll take what we can get.

Soul Eater is my jam, so I'm excited. I wanted Maka to sound a bit...cuter, but she sounds good. No, not moe Maka, just a bit more girly, that's all. I know, I'm hopeless.

And Soul? He sounds...like Soul. So, yeah -- there's that.

Good dub or not, I'm buying this. What do you think so far?

It sounds great. The one thing that threw me was Soul sounds exactly like Johnny Yong Bosch but it's not him playing the role. It took me awhile to wrap my head around that.

It is hard to judge just from this little clip. Sure Soul and Maka sound great but there are alot more characters we have yet to hear. But I trust that the rest of the cast will do a great job. Can't wait for the DVD's

Soul Eater is one of my favorite. I don't think it's a bad dub, I just think I'm too used to the Japanese voices at this point.

It's good so far, totally keeps the spirit of the japanese track. I hope Death the Kid has a good voice too. The only problem I found with it is that I'm so used to the japanese voices, but that always happens.

idk but a lot of the dubs have the same voice actor from nearly every series; same can be said for jp anime voice actor. Its not that i dont like dub its that i enjoy subtitles better

Wow...I only saw part of this series in an AMV. This is effing awesome. I'm getting this when it comes out, for sure. (And the dub sounds decent, at least, but I can't judge not having seen the original.)

Nice, the dubs are pretty decent. While I'll stick with my subs, I've got to say, anyone who simply writes this off as, "another inferior dub compared to the vastly superior Japanese" is just being unreasonable. If I never saw the Japanese, the voices in the dub would sound like they fit perfectly.

But, we've only heard Soul and Maka, and there's tons of potential for them to ruin Black Star (like simply turning him into a Naruto ripoff) or Death the Kid.

Seems passable. I still don't understand why it is so hard for the dub crews to put actual emotion into their voices though :-/

Even though I've watched half the series in subs, I must admit, I like Maka & Soul's dubbed voices. But I want to hear everyone else dubbed.

Sounds pretty good to me. I'd probably still watch it with the subs though, but I wouldn't mind watching it dubbed either. Now all I have to do is wait a couple years for a box set to be affordable :p

Im not a fan of jony young bosh he dosint relly hav rang and he cant bull the cool guy attatud off varry well atlest not compaerd to the japanese dub soul and I hope they dont call him soul eater all the time cuse if I remember right from EP1 maka only calls him that once and then just calls him soul but she calls him soul eater like 3 times in that clip

The more I think about it I hope Funimation doesn't butcher it with their own script.

I really liked Soul's voice, but Maka's reminded me of those tough-girl voices used in teen american cartoons. It wasn't the voice per se, just the tone she used.

That was better than most dubs. I really thought Soul's voice was Johnny Yong Bosch until I visited the Funi site. Anyways, I'm more curious about Kid's voice.
