Spoiler-San 1: Experimental Edition
by John Martone, 05/27/2007

FMA and Trigun
On the podcast teaser, I hinted at new content. By now I'm sure all of you have seen Len's amazing foray into full video editing, but here is my pet project: Spoiler-san! Ever see a show, only to be disappointed that none of your friends watch or care about the show? If so, then spoiler-san is for you. Its a safe bet to assume everyone here watches anime to some extent, and that they also enjoy talking about it. Unfortunately, due to the tricky nature of news reporting “professionalism” we rarely get to do just that second thing, and if we do, its explicitly muted to avoid spoiling anything. Spoiler-san's, supplementary podcasting at its best, intends to be so counter PC it hurts. No more skirting around the cool plot points of eight year old series just to protect a person who isn’t watching the show. If something cool happens, we are going to want talk about it, and more likely than not… we'll argue as well. More about the show, and what you can do to make it awe inspiring after the jump.

While the entire thing is experimental in shape now, the format should look something like this: “The Show” - Each week we start by discussing one show so big and powerful that you’d have to be living under a rock not to know of it. Evangelion, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Seed, Ghost in the Shell… just to give you an idea. Since all of these shows are already finished, we will talk about them in their entirety, what we liked, disliked, and touched ourselves inappropriately while watching. “Weekly Spoilers” – After covering the main series, we’ll move onto the things the hosts are reading/watching. This’ll most likely focus on the wealth of new shows being produced (Hayate, Gurren Lagaan, Lovely Complex, Code Geass, etc.), but will also include the old standards that never seem to die, like Bleach and One Piece (maybe if Len’s on we’ll talk about Naruto…) “Reader Spoilers” – This is where the listeners write in about what’s exciting them right now. Just read the latest volume of Death Note, get all tingly during the last episode of Romeo x Juliet, wonder why no one is talking about Skull Man? Just write in about what you want to talk about here (in the comments), and we’ll cover it. Want us to cover a show AND have something to say about it? Send us an email (as spoiler laden and in depth as possible) and we’ll read it in it on the podcast. We'll be recording late tomorrow (Monday), and need you to decide our first series to peruse over. For starters, its going to be either Full Metal Alchemist or Trigun. Your call... A) tell us which one to cover (bonus points for why) B) tell us something about a different show you are enjoying right now.
