Square Enix employees are making the big bucks

Square Enix employees are making the big bucks photo

Spend all day making internationally adored video games while making more money than anyone else in the country.

Sounds like the perfect job to me.

According to Tokyo Shoko Research, Square Enix employees are the best-paid staff in Japan. On average, each employee makes 17.9 million yen a year (that's $209,000 in dollars). And these employees are relatively young to be making so much money, with an average age of just 41.2.

Personally, if I worked at Square Enix I wouldn't mind being paid in G, gil, or even XP. And I'm sure for employees who love the video games they help to produce, the fat paycheck is just icing on the cake.

[Thank you, Ko!]

Game development, especially Japanese game development, has to be some of the most rigorous "office work" out there. Just in the States, the industry sees huge turnover due to burnout.

That said, the average salary of a US Designer is about 70k; Programmer 90k. The Square Enix average is over twice the US average... that's pretty substantial.
See, that's funny, 'cause all Square has to do is crap out belts and zippers now and slap the title Final Fantasy on it somewhere, doesn't even have to be part of the numeric series anymore, and then Square-Enix will have money to wipe their asses with.

Square, I one day desire to be just like you.
Nintendo should pay higher salaries to its employees. At least, they make quality products.
and they all deserve it... what whould i be doing right now if there were no FF games.... work? lamo
Playing other games that haven't taken such a deep downhill spike, perhaps?
@MarzGurl:
Don't forget copious servings of boy-crying.
Things on my to do list;
1. Get a job at Square Enix
2. Enjoy a job at Square Enix
3. Avoid being fired from a job at Square Enix
4. Kiss a lot of ass while working at Square Enix
5. ?????
6. 17.9 Million Yen in profit!!!!!

Curry Refills at Coco Ichibanya in Japan

After reading a recent article about getting free refills of curry sauce, I had my doubts. I completely trusted in the news, do not get me wrong, but it seemed too good to be true. There had to be some catch. I mean, seriously, we are talking about getting free curry sauce here. Join me as head into my local Coco Ichibanya in rural Japan and try to ask for a second helping of their fine sauce.
