Japanator: you know the user of that account is active via simple search and yet you completely ripped off the video for an article without even asking permission. Considering you use these articles for a revenue stream, is there a particular reason why you didn't even attempt to contact me at all? I understand that this article is as barebones as possible, and that Youtube by nature has certain... nuances, and yet I am deeply disappointed by the lack of context, lack of user information, lack of communication at all.

If you are going to use my video to generate revenue at least do me a favour and perhaps contextualize the video at least a little. Although I am still dwelling on the fact that the entire article IS my video, without any communique at all. Essentially, YOU TOOK MY VIDEO and are directly linking to it without any context, essentially plagiarising me.

Not objecting to the embed, which is perfectly fine. Objecting to the disrepect factor in not even having the decency to at least post the users name if you are going to ride on the video for the entirety of the article

Three points, really.

- If you posted the video then you have every ability to disable embedding.
- Whenever an embedded youtube video is played then the username appears below the video title when it is scrolled over.
- That same title on the youtube video serves as a link back to the original video. A second link would be redundant.

As a long time reader I can attest that Japanator is really a class act (as evidence by their inclusion of an extra credit line upon your request). I know your personal work is important to you but since the video itself is a link then an embed on a site with high readership like this one will expose your work to more people and even drive more traffic to your youtube channel. Those same people likely would have never seen the video at all otherwise.

Suggesting I am naive about the internet is in error. At the very least you are suggesting I am unable to read terms of service when I join youtube. Perhpas your assumptions are premature? Embedding is easily disabled, I am aware of that. I am aware of exposure as well.
I am also aware that this article had no effort put into making it. Would it have taken any effort to write a tiny sentence or blurb with anything really, even if it would be redundant?

When did it become acceptable for a 'class act' to earn its paycheck by putting about 5 minutes tops into an article? Like I said, at the very least a communique letting me know the video would be embedded on a revenue generating article (as opposed to a news/blog type article). Make no mistake this article generates revenue, so yes, it is rude and in bad taste and certainly smacks of lack of effort.

Not to mention I would have at least known exactly where the video would be used to, again, generate revenue. Since as it stands I just know it was embedded on a commercial site and had to dig to find it.

I also appreciate how the thank you link is just the video embed link again. Honesty, Mr. Rice (or ed.) would it kill you to spend another few moments clicking the username and linking to the user channel perhaps? You know, since thats makes a bit more sense then relinking the video...

@NilesRevenge: Yotsuba's already taken by a certain infamous website (404 and all that), and has been since before Japanator even existed. Kyubey or Kyutsuba(?) would make a fine Japanator mascot.

Not Cool is taking offense to posting a Kyuubey loop he posted on his youtube without crediting because they're generating revenue with it.

Not Cool, you realize that simply by uploading that loop you are more or less violating copyright law, right? Glass houses, stones, etc. You uploaded a clip that wasn't yours. It's not your place to point fingers at Japanator for embedding it on their site.
