whatisthisidonteven Look, as a true red-blooded, blue-haired otaku, I don't do television. Well, I watch it sometimes, but only when there's anime downtime. And one of the best things I've ever seen in that anime downtime was the CW television show Supernatural. If you ask me, it was one of the coolest shows ever to grace American sets. The show just wrapped up this season; I was sad because I didn't want the Winchester brothers' story to ever end. But they're back...as anime characters. Supernatural the Animation will be a full 22-episode anime that will cover the show's first two seasons. They'll actually remake the best episodes from the live-action, and will also work to include backstory about the brothers' childhood and bring some spotlight to some of the show's secondary characters. Amazing! Show creator Eric Kripke is on staff, of course, but invites some top-notch Japanese talent to help. According to ANN, Masao Maruyama from MADHOUSE is serving as executive producer. Naoya Takayama (Liar Game) is supervising the series' scripts, and Takahiro Yoshimatsu of Trigun fame is designing the Sam and Dean and friends. The first volume will ship on January 12 of next year. I can't wait. I'm still kind of stuck in disbelief! Looking at the official webpage for the anime makes it feel a bit more real. [via ToplessRobot]

What could that exactly mean for you, you ask? Well, let me let Eri Maruyama (International Business Development) at DAISUKI answer that as well as many more burning questions that I had about the new service.
