Sweet tartar sauces! Project X Zone gets more surprises

Project X Zone is only getting started with its character roster from Sega, Namco Bandai, and Capcom. Because Sanger is feeling lonely as the only character from the Super Robot Wars series, Haken Browning and Kaguya Nanbu from Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier are joining the battle, and we can expect the Valkyrie from Valkyrie no Bouken to aid the two fighters. The seductress known as Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Street Fighter's Chun-Li, and Dynamite Deka's Bruno are filling in the slots for Capcom, since we all know that fans cannot get enough of Morrigan and Chun-Li. And finally, we are getting Gemini from Sakura Wars~So Long, My Love~ and Erica from the third Sakura Wars game -- it's good to see Sega finally giving attention to these characters.

I was not too surprised to hear that Monolith Soft is behind the development of this game, since it looks like a spiritual sequel to Namco x Capcom. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Project X Zone is going to feature movements on grid-based maps where you move in to attack your enemies. As I obviously predicted it, you get to mash buttons during battles to perform combos. If you manage to land a critical hit, then you get to knock the enemy into the air so that you can wail on them before they hit the ground. If your allies are near by, then you can engage in a Support Attack, which allows other units to follow up on your attacks. When you perform a Support Attack, you can sometimes activate a Cross Hit, which will stun the opponent so that you can continue your button mashing spree. For those that are into flashy dynamic moves, you will get a super gauge that allows you to unleash maximum damage!

Taking a look at the total amount of characters that are going to appear so far, Project X Zone has the potential to exceed the total number of characters from Namco x Capcom. I am also crossing my fingers for Vyse, Aika, and Fina from Skies of Arcadia or Ryu and Nina from the Breath of Fire series to make an appearance in the game. While you are at it, mash up some buttons and attack the images after the jump.
