Takashi Miike to direct live action JoJo's Bizarre Adventure movie
Based on Diamond is Unbreakable
Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was the one manga I never thought I'd see a live action version of. After struggling for years to even get an anime version off the ground, it seemed very unlikely. But thanks to the anime's surge in popularity (not to mention the success of the manga, now in its eighth iteration), we're getting a movie version sooner than you'd think.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Japan is teaming with Toho (the studio behind Godzilla) to bring a live action version of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable to Japanese theaters next Summer. It's also going to be directed by Takashi Miike, who's no stranger to adapting weird properties like Ace Attorney and Yatterman (not to mention his more popular films, Audition and Ichi the Killer), and he's already found a town in Barcelona which mirrors Morioh Town.
Miike's films tend to be overhyped, but I always appreciate his vision. I mean, if this is successful, maybe we'll get more films? I'm hoping for more Battle Tendency love myself.
