Now here's a bit of a weird, or at least uncommon occurrence. Idol horde AKB48, a group I figured only otaku would know of in North America, has been tapped to perform a song for the Hollywood movie Wreck-It-Ralph, which frankly is no otaku film.
And before you say that this is surely just a Japan-targeted marketing pander ("Japander?"), they're doing the global theme.
Wow. I haven't seen something like this since Hikaru Utada did the theme for Kingdom Hearts, and that game isn't nearly as mainstream as a major Disney release (though Kingdom Hearts did involve a ton of Disney properties).
One small step for man, one giant leap for wota-kind, I guess. Are you suddenly interested in Wreck-It-Ralph, now? Check out a trailer for it below (sadly not featuring the theme).
