This is serious business, people.
In the name of research, I got contacted by a PhD candidate from The Graduate Center at the City University of New York. She's working in sexuality and gender studies, and is working on "hentai media in its social context." Here's what we need from you:
I am looking for young male (18-25 years of age) viewers of hentai who would be interested in participating in my preliminary study. These individuals would be asked to answer questions about watching hentai, as well as how the media may relate to their everyday lives and personal relationships. It would be preferable for some of these men to live in the New York City area, but virtual interviews are also an option.
I would appreciate any feedback you may be able to offer. Please reach me at hmbresearch@gmail.com. Feel free to pass on this message to any parties that may have resources on this subject, and to any who may be interested in participating in the study.
To be honest, I find the whole topic really fascinating. I'm sure there are some studies done in Japan on hentai, but there's such a different dynamic here in the U.S. when it comes to hentai and what people find acceptable, esepecially considering religious and cultural influences. As much as I may just joke about perverted things on the podcast, I have a genuine interest in how these things affect people.
So, I encourage you to apply if you can. I'll be very excited to see what comes out of all this.
