Tetsuya Komuro sentenced for copyright fraud

Vampire Hunter D composer and Avex producer Tetsuya "TK" Komuro, finally received his sentence after an arrest for copyright fraud in November of last year. Komuro apparently attempted to sell his copyrights in exchange for ¥500,000,000. One has to wonder if his memory had completely lapsed though, since he had already sold them to someone else.

After pleading guilty, the prosecution sought a 5 year sentence. Today however, it was announced that Komuro only received a 3 year suspended sentence. A number of factors likely contributed to the lienency he was shown, including pleading guilty and having celebrity status. But--as evidenced by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi's recent antics--no matter how lenient the court is, the Japanese Media isn't. Despite his reputation being in question, Komuro's label, Avex, went out of their way to recover the losses for the plaintiff, even paying an additional ¥148,000,000 in damages back in March.

Komuro's now expected to resume his role as a producer, under the careful watch of Avex Group president Matsuura Masato. Frankly, I wrote TK off the last time he put out a Globe single, but are any of you hoping to see him back in the action?
