The Best Thing Ever - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
by Mandril, 11/02/2009

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I present to you: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, the OVA from 1993, with 6 glorious episodes of pure entertainment.

When I was first introduced to Fist of the North Star, I thought I had reached the peak of anime masculinity. Surely, nothing can compete with exploding heads, so I thought.
Well, it turns out I was wrong. Ken's furious fistpumping action was merely a stepping stone, preparing me for the holy shrine that is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

This anime contains all of the following:

- A pug with superpowers
- Metrosexual main characters
- A villain named "Vanilla Ice", dressed in a leotard, who rips his own head off just for kicks (YES! HALLELUJAH!)

I'm already starting to get carried away, so let's introduce the cast before I implode and this post turns into a caps-lock fueled song of praise.

From left to right: Joseph (granddaddy), Jotaro (christ reborn), Kakyoin (Neo from the Matrix), Polnareff (retarded & french), Abdul (token black person),

But who's sitting in front of that group? Is it a plane? Is it a bird? NO! IT'S IGGY THE FLYING DOG!

Actually, to be fair, the only reason Iggy can fly like that is because Jotaro throws him straight into an enemy face from a mile away. No, really. From a mile away.

So all these characters have their own set of superpowers, which leads to alot of action and suspense during exciting battles that occur throughout the OVA. The most exceptional episode however, contains no fighting at all. The gambling episode.
In this episode, the main characters are having a good time, drinking some lemonade and gambling away their souls. Yeah, why not, who needs a soul anyway.

Everyone loses their soul and dies. Jotaro has to clean up all the mess (this is true for the entire OVA)
He plays some poker against the bad guy. In order to win back the souls of his buddies, Jotaro decides to bet his mother's soul. Consequently stating: "Yeah, I know my mom. If she'd be here, she would be totally cool with it."

To call the finale to this OVA amazing would be an understatement. Vanilla Ice enters the equasion and mere seconds after his introduction, he rips his own head off.
Fanservice! Ever since first hearing "Ice Ice Baby" I've been praying for that to happen.

In order to avoid spoilers I'll refrain from talking about the last two episodes in detail. Suffice it to say that my heart stopped at some moments and nearly exploded from an adrenaline overdose at others.

By now I should clarify that I have not read any of the manga, nor have I played the videogames, nor have I seen the 2001 prequel-OVA. There is no need to do so. Already, I am a true believer. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is The Best Thing Ever and to state otherwise would be to go against God's will.

If you like Fist of the North Star, if you are a metrosexual, if you love coffee-flavored gum, if you hate Vanilla Ice, this is an anime that should not be missed. Give it a shot. And by give it a shot I mean masturbate to it.
