Really quick: go check your manga stacks. You might want to reduce their height after reading this story.
A 37-year-old Japanese man was found dead in his apartment in Sendai, buried under several hundred manga and magazines. The Miyagi Prefectural Police are currently investigating the case, but they think that his death was an accident triggered by the Northeastern Japan earthquake on the 14th.
How do you die by manga? By stacking your collection 2 meters (6 feet) tall on all sides of your sleeping quarters. The police suspect that this poor guy was surrounded by these massive stacks, and when the earthquake hit, the all fell to crush and eventually suffocate him.
It's a sad story, but at least he went out with some otaku pride. I hope wasn't all ero manga.
How tall are your stacks? I've got a pretty unstable one going now, but it's nowhere near 6 feet tall.
