The Borrower Arrietty dated for February 17th, 2012 photo

When I first saw this story, I was happy. Finally, a date for Arrietty in the US! Then I saw the year.

Oh.

We'll have to wait a full year until we get our Will Arnett and Amy Poehler dub in theaters, on February 17th, 2012. Color me disappointed. The delay from Ponyo's Japanese release to its American one was one year. I had been hoping for an August release, just like the past two Ghibli films. Why the extra time here? Probably just Disney padding out its release schedule as it pleases (and the Deadline report seems to indicate as much).

This is especially saddening to me considering the film is already out in theaters in France. Here I was hoping we'd get a summer release, but alas, it is not to be (unless Disney decides to meddle with their schedule again and move it up... oh, if only). So, who's ready for this long, agonizing wait?

I've included a trailer for it after the jump, but it won't make the hurting go away.

lawl disney died out a while ago. they'll eek on by for another few years and then randomly produce gold yet again >
yeah i'll definitely see it when it comes out i've been following this movie for awhile now. i hope disney stops being stupid and push up the date
That seems sorta....ridiculous.
:/
but when's the R2 bluray?
"...Will Arnett and Amy Poehler dub..."

Ill pass. :(
2012? Are you kidding me?? This has been released half a year ago already; is is that hard to make some crappy dub and release it here? (look at Gantz; I can give the thumbs up for at least an almost simultaneous release with Japan despite its dub)

Then they wonder why there's so much piracy.
Well, I imagine it takes time to make a GOOD dub. That's probably why the Gantz dub was so bad, that and they didn't use any of the usual anime English VAs.
watched it in Japanese. Honestly, nothing at all is lost in the plot despite the lack of language skills.

Disney can eat a d*&@. Importing this from Japan as soon as it hits Play-Asia.
About the dub's, In France, the release version was dubbed, and we haven't found any theater where it was subbed only. Still, the dubbing was quite good, made by the classical dubbing company in France, let's say equal than for any other Disney movies.

It should not take longer to do a proper English dubbing than it took for us ...
...

...Yeah, no. IMPORTING. Disney had enough time to get this done within the year.
