Jump Fiesta does not disappoint with the games it is showing off this year. First we had Naruto’s Playstation 3 project, and now we have Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit. However, this one, unlike the Playstation 3 Project, will be for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. Thankfully, this game will be released sometime next year, and hopefully we can get an American releases sometime soon as well. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit look more like the Budokai series rather than the over the shoulder vantage point of the Tenkaichi series. A nice change if you ask me; not that the Tenkaichi series was bad or anything. Either way the animation, the special movies, and the cut scenes look spectacular. Though it is unknown at this point how far into the Dragon Ball Z storyline this game will go into. I don’t see why it wouldn’t cover the entire thing, unless they wanted to milk this new series of games or perhaps fine tune it with less characters. Either way Broly better be in it.
That's just what I was thinking, it certainly seems to be running on an engine inspired by Budokai. Not just the 2d aspect, but the flash-doding and the beam attacks look very similar too.
Which is a good thing, as Budokai 3 was the best DBZ game ever made.
And I agree that the cues taken from the original Budokai games may be a step in the right direction.
That does look pretty cool. I'd play it.
But did I see some OVER 9000!!!! in there?
Well, I've been playing Sparking Meteor lately (my first DBZ game on PS2) and I think the graphics in this video are NOT THAT GOOD. Everything looks too shiny, as if they had stamped the faces on the body. The faces seem to be independant from the whole head, and they're not that well rendered. The characters look more like the original manga/anime characters in the "sparking meteor" version than in this video, it's very strange, it's like... they've been Disneyfied !!!
@Kageryu: It's 8000. Vegeta actually says 8000 in the original Japanese, and that's what was displayed in the trailer.
I've grown to prefer Sparking/Tenkaichi's style too, particularly on the Wii. Some good ol' sideview fighting is no problem though.
Ugh...the whole Dragon Ball franchise is such a horrible waste of animation. A retarded chimp smoking crack with severe head trauma could have created and wrote a better series.
(internal dialog) "Oh, no! Maybe I can kick his ass with my ultra-mega-uber-hyper-super-saiyen-ninja-kick-fireball of doom! Too bad it's going to require a lot of useless grunting like I'm dropping a huge deuce and about thirty episodes to power up!"
I think the graphics look pretty awesome. Maybe it's the Youtube compression though. Take a look at the higher quality version on Gametrailers. Thhere is motion blur and depth of field going on and the cell shading looks more detailed than the X360 Naruto game.
I think this game is only going to cover up to the Freeza saga. You'll notice that non of the story clips take place after that and the video ends on the Freeza fight. I know both Perfect Cell and SSJ2 Gohan were in there really quick but I bet they are just secret characters.
very well made
