The OS war is won! Windows 7 gets officially endorsed OS-tan

The OS war is won! Windows 7 gets officially endorsed OS-tan photo

It's over. Microsoft wins. The OS wars are done.

MS' much-hyped successor to Vista, Windows 7, has received an officially endorsed mascot in Japan, one that is far superior to Justin Long's condescending face, or that paper clip thing.

Akiba PC reports that the premium set of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition will come with a special wallpaper and sound set for a character called Nanami Madobe, voiced by Nana Mizuki, who also played such characters as Naruto's Hinata and Nanoha's Fate. The new OS-tan's name, Nanami Madobe, is wordplay on Mizuki's name and the Japanese word for "window."

Unless Apple can come up with an equally moe mascot for "Snow Leopard" or whatever cat name they're calling it now, it has lost.

Also, I especially like Madobe because she resembles 2k-tan, Windows 2000's OS-tan representative. She's so reliable, and XP was a slut anyway.

The OS-tan. How long has it been since I last saw any of them?
Based on my opinion the war was won long ago. Though, it was a tie between Windows and Linux.
Madobe Nanami
Mado = Window
Nana = 7

SOPHISICATED WORDPLAY

Hilarious that they also got Mizuki Nana to voice, though.
Flawless victory*
Being a user of Linux since Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, I still say penguins win hands down because they are cute AND reliable.
Where can I get the sound set. I must have this.
@DGX Goggles:
Probably from the Japanese edition of Windows 7 Ultimate.
From a marketing standpoint, perhaps Win 7 needs a moe mascot.
Your move, Apple.
I won't get into the whole OS war since it really just depends on personal taste. If Microsoft releases this in the US, I might upgrade from my Pro to Ultimate. I did get Windows 7 Professional from my school for free. BTW why the hell isn't it out yet? I've had the final version for a month now.
@Kitsune: The only people that think that are the ones who haven't seen how much of an amazing improvement Windows 7 is to just about everything out there. It runs faster than XP does on the same hardware, has the security of Vista, and can possibly be considered more user friendly than XP.

Apple is for foolish people who don't realize that Mac IS a PC with an identity crisis and that have a lot of money to blow.
@Trunkster: It doesn't come out till October 22nd officially.
@Heero Yuy- Thank you for saying this. I would've said the exact same thing. It's annoying how people are already judging Windows 7 based on Vista. I've only seen bits and pieces of Windows 7, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of Vista. It's everything Vista should have been and more.
MS won when they went and made Windows 7.
Although I now mostly use Mac, I have a Windows 7 partition on my desktop and I must say I'm impressed with the improvements. I would recommend it to anybody having questions about upgrading. But about the OS war, each of the big three have their own strengths and weaknesses. It boils down to either business requirements and/or personal preference in the end.

and XP was a slut anyway.

JUST BECAUSE SHE NEEDED MORE RAM DOESN'T MAKE HER A SLUT. ;(
I installed windows 7 last week, but forgot that since it's so new, Lexmark doesn't have driver support for my printer. However, if I can find this theme with the wallpaper and sounds, it'd be MORE than worth it.
$100 more (over home premium) for a wallpaper and sound pack. As cute as she is, I think I'll pass. ;p
Though if someone releases the wall and soundpack, I'll definitely download them. ;D
@Trunkster: The retail edition isn't out yet, but a lot of people have gotten it early anyways. I get the Ultimate Edition for free at the beginning of October because of the house party thing. Really, many people have had the final one because MS was rather nice and giving for some reason.

@Travis: $200 more if you get a plain Ultimate Edition instead of upgrade.

do want. that's too awesome.
I've heard a lot about the new windows both pre and post release announcement. (This is the one based on Blackcomb right? The one every one was looking for intel on and thought was cancelled?) So far nothing bad at all. But an Os-tan endorsement? And I quote: flawless victory. xD It's not even too expensive out here.
To think Vista never got a 'decided' Os-tan (too many versions came out), but all the others had an OS-tan we could immediately recognise.

I like XP. Even if her boobs were too big. We had a lot of fun times, and XP was superior to Vista.

Still, it may be a while before I get 7.
Has anyone seen Twitter-tan? She's on Paheal
I think they have done such a great job with this game. I have been playing all the time. Keep up the good work.orlando cosmetic dentists
So cute, I always like ostan.
I must say XP tan is my favour, I often use them in my car, my room, my cloth and my matrix cuff, it bring so many happiness to me.
OS-tan are such a great meme. They are so cute. It is so awesome to imagine your OS as a nice little girl.
