Many people find relief in the bathroom. Whether it's as an escape from the outer world, or that of a more practical nature, it's usually thought of as one of the safest places in the house. Japanese artist Tetsuya Nakamura would like to change that.
His Premium Unit Series of bathroom fixtures is anything but safe and secure. Sure, at first glance that might look safe and soft, but hiding within those psychedelic swirls of color are some rather nasty looking bumps and horns. As Pink Tentacle points out, the millions of yen works of plastic and paint come with a warning:
Nakamura’s heavy emphasis on form — and relative disregard for function — means bathers should enter the tub at their own risk, as the artist and dealer assume no responsibility for injuries or accidents that may occur.
Egad!
That's the tub up above. A sink and a step (no, really) are hiding in wait after the jump.
