This history of manga in the United States, according to Wired Magazine

This history of manga in the United States, according to Wired Magazine photo

I never expected to see an anime-inspired character on the cover of my monthly issue of Wired when I opened up my mailbox, but there it was. But that’s not all, within its glossy cover there was an 11 page manga that went through the entire history of manga’s existence in America, using familiar characters and the like. (Sorry Europe, I’m sure Wired will make one for you too.) Why should explain it to you when you can read it yourself over here. It reads just like a manga from right to left, so it should feel right at home.

I think it did a fantastic job describing the history of manga, within a manga, using manga characters; especially the fat pikachu part. Also there is a video (halfway down the page) that shows the long and agonizing process of how they came up with the cover; don’t worry, it’s a lot more interesting than it sounds. Thanks Wired for actually putting some time and effort in covering this subject I hold so dear. However, it can always be improved when you have God Len writing it for you (hint, hint).

[Thanks Julian for the hot tip!!]
