Last week, Panasonic put together a beautiful art installation in Tokyo as part of the city’s Symphony of Light event held during their annual Firefly Festival. Hundreds of LED lights wrapped within tiny orbs floated along the Sumida River, accompanied by a spectacular light show displayed onto the ever-imposing Tokyo Sky Tree tower.
The LED lights used in the event are called “wishing stars”. Each of them comes equipped with a Panasonic LED chip, rechargeable batteries, and solar cells; making them capable to "create" and store their own energy. In case you were curious about it, all the lights were collected after the show for use in future events. Pretty neat, huh?
