The Tokyo Sky Tree tourist blitz is about ready to begin, but some festivities have already begun. To celebrate the Tokyo Hotaru (Firefly) Festival on May 6, it was decided that the night should be lit up. So once night came, the Tokyo Sky Tree started to shine thanks to LEDs provided by Panasonic.
Even more impressive were the 100,000 solar-powered LED lights that were released into the Sumida River. It creates a breathtaking view both from the ground and the sky. However, I don't envy whatever team was in charge of cleaning them up! They did manage to reclaim all the lights, but it must have been a pain in the ass.
