If I can't vote for Quattro Bajeena and his Hiaku Shiki, then I have to vote for Bartholomew Fatima because Xenogears is great, I hate Gundam SEED, and I've never seen School Rumble.

Graham Aker is my favorite, probably because he's awesome in his own way. Plus he's a left-handed American whose base of operations is within driving distance.

The only thing Char about Gilbert Durandal is his voice... since they share the same VA.

I'll go with Mu La Flaga from Gundam SEED, it's just too bad that he died in Gundam SEED. Yeah I know they brought him back... But since I like to pretend GSD never existed he's dead too me.

first let me start by saying all the people that clearly are NOT Char:

Schwarz Bruder - although he wears a mask, that's about all he has in common. Plus he dresses like an idiot. Char does not.

Gilbert Durandal - has nothing in commmon with Char except political motivation. Heck Carozzo "Iron Mask" Ronah has more in common since he wears a mask on top of his political spouting.

Athrun Zala - ESPECIALLY since you're talking about GSD version Athrun. He acts like a wimp, loses almost all the time, and even though he's probably the most badass of the group in GSD, that still doesn't say much since he's surrounded by wimps.

Seifer Almasy - Even though I'm an FF8 fan, I wouldn't say he's like Char at all, aside from a slight similarity in looks. He doesn't have any true ambitions of his own, and he just gets manipulated instead.

As for the others, Zechs Merquise, Rau Le Creuset, Daisuke Enomoto, and Harry McKenzie are all plenty cool enough to be considered true Char clones. Harry was an excellent parody at the least, and Daisuke was my role model for a time when I learned of what he was planning to do. Rau Le Creuset is rediculously close to Char, but he is definitely second in comparison to the lightning count.

Zechs Merquise is definitely the closest clone to Char ever. He pilots a special customized mobile suit just for him like Char, he is a large political figure that starts out evil, turns good, and then turns bad again just like Char, wears a mask like Char, and he also has a Sister on the other side just like Char. None of the others have that much in common with our friend the Red Comet.

The Athrun-Char connection is that Athrun always uses a red suit assuming said suit lasts more than 1 episode and served as the primary rival for the protagonist at the start of SEED.

Write-in ballot for Elzam von Branstein of Super Robot Wars and Mu otherwise.

This list is sorely missing Azel from God Hand. Perhaps he might be considered somewhat of a stretch because he's not wearing red, but the blonde hair and shades should be more than enough to give him "Char Clone" status!

A Char clone has to have more alike with Char than just looks people. A Char clone has to have huge ambitions like Char, and the more little side things they have in common the better.

Athrun wearing red and being the rival for the protaganist? (First off the competition is talking about Athrun from Gundam Seed Destiny when they were teamed up anyway, but ignoring that) Heck if that's all you need in common you could add Asuka Langley Sorhyu since she wears red, has a (friendly) rivalry with the main protagonist, and her mech is bright red too.....

Zechs, piloted the super-fast Leo prototype, one of it's kind, like Char's Zaku II, mask, blond, and was the rival for the main character all the way to the ending. Need I say more?

In any case, now Athrun Zala makes a little more sense, but that's about all he has in common. If you want to talk about alternative names you could also say the same for Neo Roanoke/Mu La Flaga (though his was unintentional) and Milliardo Peacecraft (his was for almost the same reasons as Char).

As for Durandal, I knew about him having the same VA, but I didn't know about some of his lines being copied....(I wish he said Char's famous "One does not care to acknowledge the mistakes of ones youth" though - that would've been cool). I guess I may need to pay closer attention whenever I watch GSD next time...
