call me mainstream but I have to say Spirited away.

I choose Howl. I liked both movies, but Howl was much better to me just because of Howl.

Definately Spirited Away! Howl didn't leave very much of an impression on me.

Howl--the only Miyazaki film I've seen that actually resolves the romantic tension...and has a happy ending.

I thought that Spirited Away was vastly overrated, though Howl's Moving Castle is definitely not Miyazaki's best work either. I think I'm gonna go with Howl's, if only because I felt that it's plot was much more along the lines of Miyazaki's better films: Nausicaa, Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky. Spirited Away is fantastic, but it just doesn't cut it.

I watched Howl and just thought how blaaaah a movie it was. AND OUT OF NOWHERE, THE TURNIP GUY IS A PERSON? It felt soooo disjointed.
I mean, Spirited Away won an Oscar for a reason.

Such a tough choice...If i could choose any Miyazaki film I'd probably choose Castle in the Sky. But since that isnt a choice im gonna go with Howl because it has a nice ending.

I didn't really like howl personally. i was waiting for the plot to take me somewhere, only to end up a step away from where i started.

why on earth is it just b/w these last two films i may never know, because clearly his older stuff was even more sublime and moving.

Just so people know,and I'm sure most of you do, But How's Moving Castle's story wasnt writen by Miyazaki but rahther was a book first. If you dont like the story dont balme it on him blame it on the lady who wrote the book....Just so you guys know.

Spirited away. It's a more original story (Howl's was a book not written by Miyazaki), and after reading the book, I just can't get the thought outta my mind that the book was much better and deeper than the movie.

Howls is good but the ending was sappy and simple. You can't end a war just because a turnip head prince returns to human form and tells a story.

I never saw Howl.... but it took me roughly 4 hours to watch the 2 hour long Spirited Away.

My vote goes to Nausicaa

Spirited Away. Out of those two it's the better one, but still doesn't hold a candle to Miyazaki's earlier works.

Spirited Away gets the vote.

The reason is that it is the first movie that made me cry in a long while. The music is so good that I feel it is up there with Patlabor 2 as one of my favourite soundtracks of all time.

Plus, Howl's Moving Castle does have the awkward Scarecrow plot-explaination at the end, which shows that fitting in the book's contents put it at a disadvantage.

Don't get me wrong, Howl is a good movie, but Spirited Away just does everything better.

Spirited is too overrated, and Howl is based on a book.

Princess Mononoke was by far the best of those movies.. BY FAR!
But since it isn't included here I'll still go with Spirited away.

I love both but I'm going to have to give this one to Spirited Away.

I myself enjoyed Laputa the most, I'd vote for that, but just because it isn't here I'll go with the one I saw at the cinema as kid, the movie that got me into Miyazaki's movies and Japan overall : Spirited Away. Or wait, I'll vote Laputa.

Since I can't do a 3rd party vote for Princess Mononoke, I'll go with Spirited Away

Eh, personally I don't care which wins this one.... both made it fairly big over here in the US, and I never was a huge fan of Miyazaki's work, but that's just my personal opinion.

howl was like 'omg wtf?'

Spirited Away. How started to drag on about half way through.

Both are awesome... Spirited away: so magical. Howl: so visually stunning, and such a good story, as long as you watch it in Japanese! Christian Bale sucked the very soul, life and awesome out of the character of Howl! It's like he didn't even take a quick listen to the original, he just showed up, puckered up his aweful duck-bill shaped mouth, said, "So this guy's like a Japanese Batman or something, right?", and just started hammering away at it. Gross, aweful, arrogant, crap performance.

Even so, I couldnt possibly choose.

Porco Rosso! Now THAT is a truly entertaining movie. Any film that involves a dogfight involving an Italian pig and an American throwing machine parts at each other is a win for me. :D

But seriously, Spirited Away hands down. Howl, ugh, I just did not like Howl as a character, he was the exact opposite of a character you'd expect to see in a Miyazaki movie. Don't get me wrong, Chihiro is unbearable at times, but she grows up to become a much better person. Howl? He just gets his soul back, how beautiful of a story is that? But when it comes down to it, ANYTHING Miyazaki makes is gold, but Spirited away is 24k while Howl is 8k at best.

Woah, I just read the comments. I have no idea what you guys are seeing in Howl, it's a good movie, but definitely Miyazaki's worst (but I guess the worst gold is still gold) if you ask me.

Howl’s Moving Castle is a great movie but the ending some how felt a little too far fetch, like how the girl suddenly became so heroic & how she save the man of her lives.

& don't say i'm too dumb to understand the story. i have never had any problem with Miyazaki's other works & i watched Moving Castle 2 times just to be sure.

Spirited Away. Howl wasn't as strong as previous endeavors, but a good movie none the less (and of course not as good as the book har har har har).

As much as I loved Howl for the more unique story, Spirited Away was the film that made me decide to go into animation, and Hisashis composition for the film is one of my favourite film scores to date. Spirited Away is easily my favourite of the two.

Oh wow.. both movies are really really good. My favorite Miyazaki's these two.. but if I had to choose I'd say Howl all the way.

I realize that not a lot of people understood Howl's Moving Castle just because it didnt have that in-your-face story line. It is very deep and I like the twist in the movie (as well as the other Miyazaki odds and quirks) that it didnt have in the book.

Both made me cry though. And I dont cry a lot.
