Dragon Ball. It's just such a good series in its own right.

Dragon Ball. Mostly the latter half of DB and that one scene where Goku rapes that ninja with the bo-staff. Also, none of that power levels and super saiyin nonsense.

The only thing I really like about DBZ was seeing characters get older and have kids, who then get older and give them grandchildren.

As much as I love Dragonball, I grew up with DBZ where as Dragonball was aired later than DBZ over here.

DBZ mostly because my family was aghast that I liked a show featuring crazily beafy guys and lots of combat. Plus I saw Dragon Ball way after I was into DBZ.

Dragonball Z was more fun, but Dragonball actually felt like it had a narrative rather than repeating the same pattern over and over again.

I grew up watching DBZ and i must say, its the first anime i've ever enjoyed up to that point. It also turned me into a mindless merchandise-buying fiend......i lapped it up, i've spent squillions on figures, posters and pencil cases. I don't even wanna know the exact amount that i spent on DBZ merchandise (it scares me), An anime that turned me into that much of a retard deserves to win this poll.

Without a doubt, Dragonball is the better series. It has that old school look to it that I like and the characters weren't all just rabid fighting machines.

Dragon ball Z. I loved it even if one fight took 6 episodes.

It wasn't one "fight" that would require six episodes, Das Inchworm. The first six episodes of every fight consisted entirely of one guy powering up. n_n

I personally liked right in between when they had super saiyain 1... that super saiyan 2,3,4 nonesense sucked...

Dragonball was a good show, with you know actual stories. DBZ just sucked and blowed at the same time while yelling. Vote goes to DB.

Though I like both shows, I would have to say that Dragon Ball is more to my liking. Even though Dragon Ball Z contained much more action-packed fighting (and a few storylines probably existed in there somewhere), it also contained useless yelling that possibly took up a few episodes if combined. On the other hand, Dragon Ball was funnier, more original, and didn't waste time in expanding the story further or have characters gain unimaginable powers that kept increasing.

So, Dragon Ball all the way.

Wow, this is a hard choice. I mean DBZ is THE anime that got me into anime today, so I really have to go with DBZ. I mean DB is really damn good too, I seem to enjoy the music more, but still DBZ got me to where I am today! DragonBall Z all the way! For me The whole series never gets old I've watched this same show over and over on Cartoon Network and old VHS tapes I get at the thrift store for a measly $1 and now the season box sets! Oh not a day goes by without even a slight mention of something related to the DragonBall trilogy comes up! But it's usually about DragonBall Z!!! I don't believe my life will be complete until I own at the very least all 5 Japanese DragonBox Set's and the 7 Daizenshuu + the 3 supplemental volumes!!! Dragonball is far more fun. I especially like that it has a lot more humor, and it has a story, unlike DBZ.

Dragon Ball was better, it didn't have 10 episodes of a gold constipated anthro-monkey charging his laser just to show that his laser gets defleted in to a mountain side which creates a huge explosion and another full episode of showing the blast from a farther POV while the boulders from around your POV crumble, dramatically.

What do we have here ?

A nice story, full of fun, turds on a stick, a pervert old guy, a gay lieutenant of Red Ribbon, nice drawing, a sense of adventure and some exciting fights (tournament). That's Dragon Ball.

On the other hand we have fights with strong enemies, then fights with stronger enemies, then fights with enemies stronger than previous stronger enemies, then planets half-raped by gigantic laser balls. No story, no adventure and NO FUN. That's Dragon Ball Z. And the designs sucks.

My vote's for Dragonball, for being one of the most imaginative retcons of Wu Ch'eng-en's Journey to the West. Dragonball Z might have more over-the-top action, but the novelty of the basis for Dragonball plus Dragonball Z needing almost two episodes to show a non-boss fight gives Dragonball the edge over Z in my opinion.

Dragonball motherfuckers. So much more fun hillaroiusness and great feeling of adventure. Pure awesome.

There was this episode during the Android saga in Dragon Ball Z where Krillin is holding a control device that could turn off Android 18 for almost the entire episode. This was torture. He was having a flashbacks of him holding the control device which was 3 minutes ago. He was also having flashbacks of flashbacks. That was most stagnant Dragon Ball Z that I've seen in my entire life.

Well I like them both, I like the show cause they get older and have kids and grandkids. But I would have to say I like DB better cause it was a little slower and better explained without to many confusing power upgrades and such. But both great series.

My vote goes to Dragonball,I watched it before DBZ and enjoyed it so much more. It was a fun and original adventure, one day when I'm older and have kids I wanna show them dragonball xD.

Second. DBZ, only because Gohan proved that he was the biggest pimp ever, when he fought Cell.

After and before that, he was a pussy. > > But that single moment of epicness was enough to save the series.

I'm currently watching DBZ when Cell just absorbed #17. The series is pretty cool but I don't have any nostalgia attached to it. I watched DB right before it and I would say it was better. The tournaments were really fun because we didn't know who would win(except for the third one vs piccolo), and it's prety rare. The only thind I slightly dislike about DB or DBZ are the Dragon Balls. They were overused. When Kuririn died I was like oh, they will get the DBs and that's it. Anyways, my vote goes for Bleach, erm Dragon Ball.
