Last week you voted for your favorite meister in the anime Soul Eater. Who did you like better, team Maka, team Black Star, or team Death the Kid? When it comes to shonen anime, it is the unique characters that stand out above the rest. Every shonen anime has a hard working character that always puts their friends first, as well as that loud obnoxious character that is really super strong when needed; but not every shonen anime has a character with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and two guns that can turn into two hot chicks.

So it is to no surprise that Death the Kid wins this round. He is definitely an extremely interesting character, with an award-winning voice actor; so I believe Death the Kid deserves this win. However, I can’t deny my love for Black Star; but he will never surpass God Len.

Well, a few episodes from the 2009 Spring Season have passed, so its prime time to decide on which one is the best! Like the Spartans before us, we must decide on what show will be the best of the season at an early age. It is time to discard all the weak and ugly series to the death hole, and crown the eternal champion forever. Fullmetal Alchemist is looking good, but so is K-ON! and Eden of the East. You also can’t deny the power of the Basquash! This is going to be painful, its time to decide.

Even though I loved the first episodes of a lot of these animes (especially FMA Brotherhood) Sengoku BASARA takes the cake for being loaded with Kamina-esque renditions of Japanese warriors such as Yukimura Sanada and Masamune Date, over the top fights loaded with copious amounts of GAR, and one of the most memorably silly opening lines: ARE YOU READY GUYS!? PUT YA GUNS ON!!!

i think the whole concept of the anime makes it really interesting, i'm sure this show will be as good or even better than Honey and Clover!!

Agh I've been behind on this season's anime >_<
But the ones I've watch I've enjoyed: K-ON!, Queen's Blade and Hatsukoi Limited. Hope to watch more of them soon...

Dragonball Kai. At least for now. Once we get past the whole Saiyan arc, then my vote would likely go to Cross Game.

Old school DBZ fan who likes his bit of (abridged) nostalgia.

Well only one episode of Higashi no Eden is out so I can't really judge it atm...but it was super interesting
Queen's Blade was lulz...was over the top laughing when i realized it was kugyuu playing the big breasted girl whose hair was hands that covered her acid squirting breasts.

My vote is for Hayate!! AAAAAMMMENN!!

Valkyria Chronicles

The first episode doesn't show it very well, but imagine if you were sent back in time to World War 2 with an M1 Abrams....basically a lot of fast paced tank ass-kicking. Plus it's got Alicia, the first female lead that I truly like more than all the other girl characters (at least in the game; so far she's off to a good start in the anime too though).

K-ON! would be in second for me. Mio is S+ rank awesome moe.

I can narrow it down to Higashi no Eden and K-ON!, but I think K-ON! takes the cake for Mio awesomeness. Call me a Kyoani fanboy but in reality, that's what I am.

I was looking forward to a lot of these shows, but unfortunately, I haven't watched most of them. From the ones I did watch, I've enjoyed Valkyria Chronicles, K-On!, and of course, FMA:Brotherhood.

I would've said FMA if this was asked yesterday, but I watched Sengoku Basara earlier today, and I have to say that a single episode hasn't entertained me that much for quite a while.

I was really looking forward to Sengoku Basara, but after watching...well meh. I guess horses with bike parts strapped to it make me want to punch the designer in the face. For that reason, Valkyria Chronicles.

Fullmetal Alchemist wins this hands down. Because it just is epic, everybody knows it, and it's quality-vise the best (and that might help too that I've been a fan of FMA since it started publishing).

Tho i didnt realized that Sengoku BASARA, Hatsukoi Limited, and CROSS GAME was coming out as well.

I've only seen one episode of higashi no Eden and Natsu no Arashi and Shangri La and haven't even gotten around to Valkyria Chronicles...so my vote is for Higashi no Eden. How can you go wrong with a naked man holding a pistol and a cell phone in the middle of D.C.?

btw, I think K-ON is super boring...just putting that out there.

hmm, I've got K-On, FMA:B, and o7 Ghost on my desktop, but I've yet to watch them...damn college

I'm really anticipating FMAB though

As big an FMA fan as I am, I'm not enjoying the new series as much as I thought I would have. The art is weird and the new voices are annoying...the music quality isn't as good as the first anime either (and to think that for a long time, I hated the first anime).

My vote goes to Valkyria Chronicles. I haven't played the games because I don't own a PS3, but I have seen the first episode and I want to see more, the characters look interesting.

I also liked Tears to Tiara. Sure, it's nothing new in tearms of characters or storyline, but with the way the first episode ended, it left me with the feeling that I want to see more :-D

SENGOKU BASARA. It's like Dynasty Warriors and TTGL mixed. Plus dancing.

K-ON! is going pretty nicely though, thats a close second.

BUT! I'd also add Eden of the East (Production I.G. fanboy) and Hayate (YAY!)

Haven't watched all of the choices but my vote goes to Cross Game.

I'm a Mitsuru Adachi fan, that man can sure write a great story with interesting characters.

FMA B art style was a little weird but I feel pacing of the story was better then the original.

However Cross game gets me vote.

I'm divided between Valkyria Chronicles and K-ON! but I think I'm gonna say... Valkyria Chronicles.

Though I love Fullmetal Alchemist and am enjoying DragonBall Kai, they've both already been series.

Cross Game is where my vote lies. It covers such a range of emotions in one episode. It's hard to describe.

Hatsukoi Limited has potential but it's feels too much like tread ground.

I've yet to only check out 3 or 4 shows so far, but K-ON! was my favorite so far.

All other shows this season have already failed in one way or the other. Yeah, I'm pretty harsh.

I really like a lot from this season but the one that stands out the most is valkyria chronicles. I played the game and it is one of my favourite for the PS3.

I was gonna say FMA Brotherhood, but everyone seems to be voting for the one show I haven't watched yet, but meant to. If I don't come back, my vote's for FMA:B, but I may have to come back and retract.

So far, "Asura Cryin'" and "Shin Mazinger" have won me over so I will vote for them.

The first ep of "K-ON" did nothing for me but, because its got a whole "music" theme, I'm going to stick to it for a few episodes before making a final call on it.

"Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō" looked interesting, but it is not something I'd go out of my way to watch.

FMA-B did not impress me at all. The original show was perfect and there is ZERO reason (except maybe a greedy company wanting to make a fast buck by whoring out an proven franchise) for this new season to exist.

There are some good ones but nothing beats Dragon Ball Kai.

Since this is an early-season survey, this could easily change. That being said, it's between Higashi no Eden, Cross game, and the acctual winner, Basquash! Any anime that has the potential to have some kind of Harlem Globetrotters antics in giant robots automatically gets my vote.

THAT being said, in b4 Sweet Georgia Brown AMV's.

I've watched Sengoku Basara. I'm a big fan of the game, but I don't think the anime can keep up the same tension : how will these guys fight for 20 minutes with nothing but deathblows ?
Kasuga is hawt, though.

I'm looking forward to the 2 remix/remakes (whatever you want to call them) shows this spring season. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood looks very promising, since I liked the manga's story better than the first anime. Dragon Ball Kai also looks good, but I hope not too much is actually cut from the show. DBZ was the first anime type cartoon I watched that got me to the obsessed state I am today. Son Goku shall live forever!
