Gundam Wing, because it was the last anime I could get my brother to watch with me. (I think I'm gonna cry.)

As for series its a tough one since I have three favorites so far since I would have to pick between Gundam X, Gundam 00, and Zeta Gundam which might be off the list based on the ending once I finish it. So Ill have to get back to you on that latter on today. Though if gundam mangas are allowed, I would put Crossbone Gundam for the vote.

Anyway, I'll go with original Mobile Suit Gundam. Actually, I'll be more specific and go with the compilation trilogy, but it's all the same.

I went back and forth between MSG and Zeta in the Bandai poll, but since I voted Zeta there, I can balance the scales once again and say MSG here. It's definitely MSG/Zeta though, no contest.

I love Gundam to death, it's my favorite series of all time. But sadly this is no contest, the original Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 wins this by a mile.

Hands down it's gotta be Zeta Gundam. Mobile Suit Gundam is the original, and it's great, but Zeta just builds on that so well.

Gundam Wing is a piss poor rehash of Mobile Suit Gundam's and Zeta Gundam's storyline condensed into one series. And Gundam SEED is a decent homage to the original Mobile Suit Gundam (excluding Destiny of course).

There are a lot of great ones, but Zeta Gundam is definitely the pinnacle.

I'm one of those weirdos who thinks Turn-A was totally fascinating, possibly for the fact that it had a lot of non-mecha segments, and partially for the turn-of-the-century vibe the earth settlements had.

I also like the original 0079 story, but so far, I've only seen the movie trilogy. I'll be watching the full TV series of that, followed by my as-of-yet-unwatched Zeta Gundam DVDs, sometime this year, for an epic Gundam binge. And possibly Gundam 00, if I don't feel the need to take a break from Gundam at that point.

If I see seed of destiny we have a problem. Char's Counter attack was good at most points. great movie but 08 ms team and G gundam take the cake. But 08MS team wins for me. If G gundam didn't have everybody speaking in sequence I could of handled it to G Gundam

I have to say that Gundam 00 is the Universal Century/Alternate Time line stories perfected.

Having watched every Gundam series/OVA/Movie Gundam 00 communicates the various messages of Gundam best.

Now 8th MS Team should also win for being the Apocalypse Now of Gundam, Which is amazing! Also the Shuddering Mountain arc is everything I love.

Turn A Gundam should get a special award for Best Mustachioed Mobile Suit.

Have been listening to the very few first Japanator AM casts, and apparently some of you guys don't like some Gundams, Bartender and the likes. So pardon me, once more, for my outburst.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket

Why is this my favorite series? It's because it focuses more on character development more than any Gundam I can remember, that's saying a lot considering 0080 is only 6 episodes long. It also has one of the most touching stories in all of Gundam and you get to see a different side of the Zeon soldiers. Also as a bonus the Gundam pilot is a female and not your typical male.

There may not be a lot of mobile suit fights in 0080 but the few that there are really stand out. The final confrontation between Bernard and Christina as Alfred stands watching in horror is quite moving.

Those are my reasons for loving 0080.

gundam seed, if only for the reason only one i've seen when i was a child, watching unicorn atm and it looks pretty awesome, but seed seems to have had a semi-lucid plot of pew pew pew

MS Igloo (both 1 and 2)

Yeah, I know it's CG, but it has several things I liked:

- Showing the war from more of the grunt perspective. Anti-tank rocket launchers vs. Zakus is epic on a small scale.
- Lots of interesting battles, including updating those from the original MSG (A Bao Qu, Odessa).
- Lots of parallels to history. The Zeon side has many obvious and subtle allusions to Nazi Germany (uniforms, names, child soldiers, ersatz equipment, etc.).
- The music is quite good. Again, many WWII/military themes, which I liked.

There are many great Gundam series. I love most of the UC series, with ZZ and V being the excpetions.

I rank OG MSG 0079 as the best series. It had some very real moments regarding the people fighting and the definition of the enemy. I also love the relationship between Char and Amuro. In second place I'd call a tie between War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team. Other honorable mentions include SEED, OO and 0083 Stardust Memory.

I like Zeta but the constant death of important characters gets very old. I have no desire to ever see G Gundam. I prefer more realistic Gundam action, despite my love for SEED and 00.

Zeta Gundam, of all the gundam shows it has the best balance of good characters, an exciting story, villans you love to hate, and really cool giant robots. But the best thing about this series is that it leaves you wanting more. As soon as it ends you want more gundam, not neccessarly more UC stories but just more gundam.

I always have a really ahrd time with this question, between 08th MS, Zeta, and 0079... but I have to go with Zeta. So much bitchslapping

I have to go with Gundam 00. It did most of what other Gundam shows try to do, but better. Other shows have certain aspects that may stand out more, but as an overall product, 00 was good consistently. Honorable mentions to Zeta, MS 08th, and 0079.

I like all Gundam except Victory. Which is why I'm happy noones voted it yet. Even Destiny is better than Victory.

War in the Pocket with Victory being a close second...

I vote for 00, but first season. Second season is still good, but there's some nonsense. Like, how in the hell Lockon's brother knew how to pilot a Gundam with no training?! And that Inovator stuff kinda of bore me. But it's all good when you have twin drives and giant beams exploding stuff in the space.

Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. Zeta gundam and season 2 of ZZ gundam (you know when you hear Silent Voice, shit is going to go down) come in a close 2nd.

I'd say Turn A Gundam, but then I remembered that I wrote a (somewhat satirical) cblog on how G Gundam taught me to be a man. So G Gundam.

Pleasantly surprised to see some support for it. It was the only series I felt made the mobilesuits pilotable without needing super pilots. The only other series I felt that did that well was Patlabor (TV, not so much the movies).

I think my personal favorite was "Stardust Memory" or something along those lines.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not so jaded as to believe that Wing was the greatest ever. Subjectively speaking, it's my favorite, but putting that aside there are so many good ones that I wouldn't mind being called "greatest" that I think instead I'll list the ones I'd rather NOT have called great.

The obvious first is Gundam Seed Destiny for reasons I shouldn't need to say, followed by 00 (seriously, anyone here who thought it was honestly a good GUNDAM series clearly never watched another Gundam series before), and then possibly regular Seed. Regular Seed I'm willing to cut some slack since it was not that bad, but it definitely doesn't deserve to be called greatest.

Ultimately I think it's rather pointless for me to attempt to rectify the arbitrary comments about Wing here, though I will say this to Captain Bright -> If you seriously think that Wing was trying to be a (sad) attempt to replicate U.C. Gundam timeline, then you seriously need to come off your airs and get back to Earth my friend. Gundam Wing copied a few elements, and nothing more.... just like EVERY SINGLE Gundam series since the original. And yes, LoGH is the shizznit.


tl;dr
In a perfect world, I'd be quite happy with 0079, X (HIGHLY underrated), or Wing winning, though Zeta would be good too.

I'm posting my entry before i read any of the comments: 08th MS Team!

After an ordeal I had to undergo and after coping with a couple situations, I have decided to go with Zeta Gundam. Why? Because out out all the series in my opinion it shows how messed up the outcomes of war can be. The Titans seem to be one of the more messed up groups since they went through such extremes to prevent the birth of New Types by gassing colonies, to even killing their own allies while keeping it hidden from both civilians and the Federation themselves. Don't forget about the drugging and enhancing of innocent people so that they can fight on equal grounds with New Types, along with making their soldiers fight for a false cause. You have to give it props to Camille (don't sue me for misspelling), he punched a military official in the face for making fun of his name. He also lost many important people close to him and he was shaped in to a good soldier and character as the series progressed regardless. He was able prove his loyalty to the AEUG in the first two episode by hijacking two gundams from the Titans. We also got to witnessed the return of two rivals from the original series fighting side by side for once and they both acknowledge that Camille might one day surpass both of them as time goes on. We also get to see the return of Captain Bright being a ship captain again.

The series itself acted as a good successor to 0079 and we got to see the progression of that universe. Perhaps if it wasn't for this series, we wouldn't have Gundam 00 or any of the later series that we all enjoy.

Heck Seed and Destiny would have been a good re imaging of 0079 and Zeta if it wasn't for the director letting his wife change the story, along with letting Bandai influence the series too much. This is based on what a friend of mine told me, who is a Gundam Nut.

However if 08th MS team wins I won't mind either since we get to see what's going on in the Jaburo area while Amuro and the White Base crew are in space fighting off Zeon. We also got to see the ordeals of jungle warfare through the perspective of normal soldiers.

I also don't mind if 00 wins since it made up for the destiny series and showed that alternate gundam universes can still be good. It also uses a good number of homages, specifically from Universal Century and Wing mostly.

I cast my vote towards G Gundam. Why you ask? Because if there's one thing that I took away from watching the series apart from how shouting makes ALL of your attacks stronger and glowing, it would be that reason is only a suggestion, and that at many times it is quite appropriate to "fuck it".

But mostly because of Master Asia...

Gundam 00 since its the only one I saw every episodes of

which would still technically be 0 but that's neither here nor there
because it is 0 which has no physical existence, just an idea, sorta like the 00 gundam once it quantized
of course it then later gained existence a few seconds later, but for a short while it didn't so 0 both exists and doesn't exist, thus meaning it doesn't exist on this list.

08th MS Team is the best, without a second thought. It's the most real--like a Vietnam film that just happens to have giant mecha. It doesn't feel ike sci-fi, it's so believable. Lots of psychological tension, moral ambiguity. Both sides of the conflict have honorable people and evil blowhards. The romance is cliche, but not that bad.

Plus, I love Kiki the commando girl. Total crush on her.

Oh--! One more thing. 08th MS team is good because SHIRO IS NOT EMO! He just deals with shit and acts like a f***in' leader!

Seriously Shout really does make your attacks stronger. The glowing part is a bit tricky though.

For me it must be G Gundam, because it taught me what it meant to live a "burning" life. Plus you could even say that G Gundam has had a very popular child:

Sorry for the long delay, but I didn't say that Wing was worse than the U.C. era Gundams. What I was trying to say that if I wanted to watch something with changing sides or politics, I'd watch LotGH, which was airing at the same time as Wing(the 3rd and 4th season).

I have to say, Gundam 0079 is the best series. It has it's flaws here and there, but if there is any series that shows Gundams being all heroic and badass, its this one. Plus, I don't know if it's just me, but 0079 reminds me of the original star trek, but where the Enterprise's crew is all experienced and awesome The White Base's crew is inexperienced at best, but I think that was part of the charm for me.

@CaptainBright: Ahhhhhh, I see now. Then in that case your logic is undeniable and I agree. On the side I still think Wing was just a fun show in of it's own right, and comparing the story and political complexity of almost anything to LoGH is pretty tilted, lol.

Gundam the 08th MS Team everything from the dramatic depiction of war to the forbidden love side story fit together very well, especially the interesting and fairly deep characters that really help pull you into the world because they were all flawed but in a very human way that only adds to there personality. the combat was all very intense and dramatic because it was the first time I saw a Gundam that wasn't made out of magical bulls***t armor and it really kept u on the edge of ur seat not knowing what was going to happen...
