I suppose there are a couple of machines that are "point and shoot" where you'll hit anything your generally looking at, but I like Heavyarms the best, so it gets my vote.

Oh man, this is tough, Gundam Wing was the mecha anime that got me totally obsessed with mecha in general, and this was because Heavyarms and Deathscythe were so insanely over the top. I remember seeing Heavyarms shoot cannons and guns out pretty much every single open space on its body and thinking, "why doesn't our army just make a few of those?" but then I saw Deathscythe's gigantic double-bladed energy scythe of kickass and realized from that day on that whips, swords, and sickles simply can't compare to a huge freaking scythe.

Going to go with Deathscythe based on coin toss. :D

Shame Shenlong and Sandrock don't get enough attention though. I guess that's what they get for using undeniably awesome but undeniably gimmicky weapons like dragon flamethrowers and dual sickles.

Dammit, this is harder than deciding between Rin, Kyou, and Tomoyo! And I love it!!!

Alright, first things first, is this just TV series suits? are Endless Waltz suits included? What about regular mobile suits? and does anything from the G-Unit manga count (not that anyone cares about G-Unit, lol...)?


If it's just the classic series, if I had to pick which I'd personally pilot, it'd either be the classic Wing Gundam (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH WING ZERO....people seem to keep forgetting Wing gundam and Wing Zero are two very different gundams....I'll explain in detail if you care), Wing Zero, or Heavyarms.

When playing armored core, I always tend to go for the heavy gattling cannons, and seeing as my last cosplay was as seen below, I have to say I really do like the raw firepower capabilities and weapon designs on the Heavyarms (and Kai version). However, I've always LOVED the classic Wing Gundam's design, and Wing Zero itself was great just from it's raw power.....Heck, it was so cool it managed to make the most annoying character of the show actually COOL for about an episode!
(will post more, one sec this'll be a while)

I like Wing Zero, but it seems like the main suit is usually the generic type that you'll see a different version of in all Gundam series. Or maybe it's just the color? 0.o Either way, I'd have to go with Deathscythe. Can't go wrong with a black mobile suit with an energy scythe.

Honestly though, I think I'd have to choose the original Wing Gundam.
It was the star of Gundam Wing Episode 6: Party Night, saving Relena from the enemy OZ MSs, it's handling was the most impressive and mobile, and the only reason I didn't cosplay it instead was because the wings would've been too hard to get to stay on right.

And this isn't a G Gundam debate where there were cameos to other gundam series in the background near the end, so the RX-78 isn't a factor.

This is for both the movie and the tv series, so if you vote for wing, then you vote for all wings ever! BTW I do like the regular old wing from the tv series better than the movie version for some reason.

But I pretty much knew you'd get a kick out of it in some way or another.

Since Len said voting Wing means voting Wing, Wing Zero, and Wing Zero Custom, I won't change my vote, but if it didn't, it'd be Wing Zero all the way baby. (Custom since Endless Waltz is included)

Also, Heero, always remember. Tomoyo is Love, Kyou is Lust, but Rin...Rin is Win.

@Heero - Also, episode 6 was with the shield stab into the...I want to say Aries, but it may have been a Leo since it was so early into the series.

Anyway, best part of the first half of the series, without a doubt.

@Kageryu: It was an Aeries. And the budget spent on the last episode was almost as much as the three before it combined, which is definitely evident during the Zero vs Epyon battle with the smoke and gunfire effects, and the overall smoother feel of everything.

How is Kyou lust? I figured Tomoyo would be that, since she's the one that you make all the perverted jokes with in the original game, whereas Kyou probably would break every bone in your body if you tried to do something like that. Seriously I think I'd have to try to go for the harem ending if I ever had to choose from those three...

(Further analysis of every gundam to come later, gotta go to physics lecture...ugh.)

@Len: The TV series one just plain looked more practical. I don't care what kind of verniers the feathers are on the Custom version, it just seems ridiculous. That and the original seemed to have this cool feel to it....it's hard for me to describe.


And since I have to do this, if they were to have a fight, who would win:

Wing Zero seems like the obvious choice given it's twin buster rifle, but people like Zechs and Wu Fei were able to counter it quite effectively with melee focused suits. I think it's pretty safe to say Sandrock would get it's rear end beaten though.

Heavyarms with it's insane missile payload and gattling gun(s) (depends on which part of the show as to how many it has), could probably inflict some massive damage on any opponents, but Deathscythe assuming it used it's Hyper Jammers effectively could hide itself making firearms mostly useless at a range. Nataku/Shenlong/Altron is the weird one... it has a mix of close and moderate range attacks, but unless it gets in close to its opponent most of it is useless, and since it doesn't have any sort of camouflaging capability it's doubtful it could close in without being cut down fast.... I mean hell, even at close range Heero was able to match Wu Fei with a friggin LEO...

Plus, that little pocket knife in its arm was the sweetest backup weapon ever.

@Heero - I'm a masochist for tsundere. But anyway, I thought it was an Aries as it was in the air, plus I remember the dark color scheme and if it was a Leo it would have been the space variation. Anyway, as for the Epyon/Zero battle, I especially loved the part when they were flying through the tunnels, spinning around, barely dodging each other's vulcan cannon fire, truly an epic battle.

Shenlong best gundam and best pilot. No question.

@Kageryu: if you look closely you'll notice they actually do hit each other a few times. The thing is 60mm rounds are nothing when you've got over 6 inches of armor specially manufactured out of materials that basically amount to modern day HP9-4-20.
(and I'm a huge tsundere fan too)

I have done waaaaay too much research on this stuff for my own good.....

Personally I think a debate over the strongest mobile suit ever manufactured, including Universal Century ones would be really interesting...

@Heero - My friend, your knowledge of Gundam rivals my knowledge of Type-Moon, so I totally understand where you're coming from. I stand in awe at your observation of Gundam.

Anyway, if I had to choose my favorite, RX-78GP01Fb Gundam Full Vernian. Something about the shape and design is just amazing. Not saying it's the strongest, just my personal favorite.

@Kageryu: Ah, when I was saying Mobile Suit I was trying to imply the mass production model MSs like Zakus and Virgos and stuff....personally I'd vote for the Zudah - it went so fast it blew itself to pieces! lol.

Type Moon has been a rather recent development for me when you look at the overall time I've been into anime, though it has really started making a mark for me big time. FSN (game) was just plain awesome, Tsukihime was really interesting, and KnK is making my head explode with awesome. I have no idea what this 428 series is, but you can bet I'm looking forward to it too...

@Back on topic: If I had to put all the Gundams in Gundam Wing on overall capabilities scale, it'd probably be like this:

Wing: 10 (superb mobility, excellent weaponry)
Deathscythe: 8 (excellent stealth)
Heavyarms: 10 (peace through superior firepower)
Sandrock: 5 (good armor...that's about it)
Shenlong: 7 (weird...but a nice range of attack)
Wing Zero: 13 (Zero system and the TBR)
Deathscythe Hell: 10 (no real range weapons still)
Heavyarms upgraded: 11 (even MORE guns)
Altron: 11 (nice range of armaments and flexibility)
Epyon: 10 (only 2 close weapons, Zero System)

Non-Gundams:

Tallgeese: 8 (high speed, but not as high mobility)
Tallgeese II: ? (Treize didn't really show us much)
Mercurius: 6 (good defense, not much attack though)
Vayeate: 8 (paper armor, but a gun that equals TBR)
Virgo: 5 (tough to kill in numbers, but that's it)
Virgo II: 7 (coordinated tactics system)

This scale is assuming a Leo is a 1 (Command Leos and Aries are a 2).

@Heero - The only real Type-Moon aspect of 428 is that Kinoko Nasu is writing a bonus scenario, and Takeuchi Takeshi is doing the art, it's not really a "Nasuniverse" piece.

If you want some really interesting reading material, I suggest Angel Notes, a small bit Kinoko wrote before he wrote Tsukihime. Also, check out the Character Materials, they contain some superb information on characters that haven't even been introduced yet.

Currently, Type-Moon is working on three projects, Witch on the Holy Night, which is a Tsukihime prequel staring Aoko Aozaki, it ties Tsukihime and KnK together with concrete. Also, Girl's Work, which is a weird piece because Kinoko and Takeuchi have little to do with it, and the main character is apparently the city of Shinjuku.

The third project is the Tsukihime remake, which is supposed, and hopefully will, contain the long awaited Satsuki arc.

The Nasuniverse is -deep-, and if you're a person who really loves getting his hands dirty with details, like I do, you should get a kick out of reading more and more about it.

Ah, no wonder I hadn't heard much about 428 before.

As for the rest, I read Angel Notes back when it first appeared on Gaku Gaku Animal Land, and the three new games have had me about as excited as most every Sacchin fan, though I'm most looking forward to seeing if in Mahoutsukai no Yoru they show Aoko taking the glasses from Touko assuming Shiki Ryougi is done with them by then...(I'm familiar with the Nasuverse overlaps here and there. Example: In Heaven's Feel, Rin goes and creates the sword Zelretch, and I noticed Zelretch is also one of the 27 dead apostles that Arcueid is so familiar with). Too bad J.C.Staff made such a blunder with the Tsukihime anime that doesn't exist...

However, why is the Tallgeese on this list? Sure, it's awesome but it isn't really a Gundam.

Perhaps I'm simply foolish to question God Len's decisions since he can do whatever he wants, even if his actions radically alter the very fabric of reality and destroy all of space-time.

I dunno, during that time, Tohko was in school, and hadn't actually met Ryougi yet. I think Aoko comes back later in between Mahoutsukai no Yoru and KnK and steals them.

Another interesting tie in is Riez Beif, who is Sion's friend and believed to be the headmaster of the school Azaka and Fujino go to.

Also, the voice in Rin's Kaleidostick was revealed to be Magical Amber, Kohaku's magical girl form.

In addition, in Fate/tiger colosseum, Phantasmoon and Neco Arc and playable characters, Magical Karen recites a line from Tsukihime, (Berserker also recites a line from Hayate no Gotoku), and Fujyou Kirie from Kara no Kyoukai, is related to Kohaku and Hisui. There are actually quite a few links, a little known one being that the three demon hunting families, Asagami, Ryougi, and Nanaya, all belong to the same demon hunting organization.

Not an easy choice for most of u but for me it's HEAVYARMS all the way.

Well THAT was a good read. Epic Debate is Epic. I'd say something about Epyon being behind, but it is in third after all... though by a rather large margin. Boo.

Wing Zero is a spectacle, don't get me wrong, but those gatlings are just brutal.

I'm really torn between Deathscythe and Heavyarms. One is a bat out of hell, and one has more gatling guns than limbs.

Appearances?? Shenlong had a friggin dragon arm that also had a flamethrower function! Sandrock had two shotels, a shield, and an uzi....

Not to mention Shenlong had a distinct style to its design whereas Sandrock was just some big bulky thing with it's only notable traits being it was big and bulky (with tiny wing shoulder whatevers)...

Hey now, I'm not dissing the dragon arm, it was pretty awesome. But it's overall design was rather slim and rather simple. Every Gundam has it's unique bit, it's key design feature that sets it out above the rest. I'm not saying Sandrock deserves the love it gets, Sandrock is by far my least favorite (below even the OZ-19MASX2 Mercurius) But I'm not surprised it turned out this way.

Damn, soo torn between Deathscythe and Heavyarms. I think I'm going to have to go with Heavyarms Gundam only for the fact that Peace through Superior Firepower IS and has ALWAYS been the American way of life.
