Tuesday Otaku Debate: Saber vs Clare
by Tim Sheehy, 08/19/2009
Tuesday Otaku Debate: Saber vs Clare photo

The results are in for last weeks male moe battle, though I wish more people had voted for the most moe and not just for who could kick the most ass. That said, I still felt Honey was more moe, despite the fact that he could indeed kick more ass. I seriously thought Momiji would get more votes for rocking the skirt though. I guess cross dressing doesn't beat being obsessed with stuffed animals or sweets though. Monday's surprise wasn't quite what we had expected, as we actually had a whole day of Moe planned for you. Not a big loss in my opinion. Besides, that couldn't possibly beat C-Blogs, am I right?

Momiji - 16 votes

Honey - 22 votes

Hit the jump for the next debate.

Last week, the debate featured two similarly androgynous men who lacked some serious gar, so this week it'd only be fair if I flipped things around. Instead, we find ourselves debating between two gorgeous femme fatales who wield their respective blades with amazing skill. While the similarities are less apparent than our last debate, I still feel this would be a pretty good one, so let's get down to it.

On one hand we have Saber, the protagonist of the Fate series. While she serves a master, and is thus slightly handicapped, her abilities are nothing to be laughed at. Her cute looks aside, she handles her magical blade rather well. On the other we have Clare from Claymore, who caries a sword that practically dwarfs her body. Like Alucard or D, she has abilities similar to that of half-vampires, not to mention she practically hunts them for a living.

Of course, if we went by the anime alone, I'm not sure I'd be able to justify this debate. The Claymore anime was pretty terrible in comparison to its manga counterpart, so if it makes your decision any easier, let's forget the anime ever happened. If we're taking the anime out of the picture, I honestly feel it's a toss up. Who would win? Maybe you can decide for me.
