Oh jeez, this is actually a tough one for me. Both have done roles that truly made anime dubs something to look at in a positive light.

Blum, his voice defined the Spike I knew in Cowboy Bebop. Not only that, but he lent his voice to TOM on Toonami, one of the biggest defining parts of my childhood (and arguably the thing that got me into anime in the first place). Obviously Mugen from was also exceoptional and when you factor in Shishio, you got something that's nearly untouchable.

On the other hand, Bosch has done his fare share of great voice work as well. After watching him do Vash in Trigun, no other voice other than his appears whenever I imagine Vash's voice. Also got to remember his surprsingly amazing dub for Renton and his respectable dubs for Lelouch and Ichigo

Though in counterargument, unlike Spike, Mugen, and Vash, the japanese voices still dominate in my head when concerning Lelouch and Ichigo.

I guess that means I'll be going with Steven Blum then. They're both undeniably good voice actors, but Steven Blum is the one whose voice pretty much defined the anime I watched as a kid and in effect got me into it to begin with.

I can't believe you didn't list Leeron for Blum. Leeron is proof that not all of Blum's roles are typecasted and sound the same.

Steven Blum, Onizuka was awesome, and Cowboy bebop was one of my first anime.

Both are awesome, but I'll have to go with the Black Ranger just because I'm a big Power Ranger nut. Plus, in that whole ALA thing, he did kind of give a decent explanation and some benefit of the doubt to the other side.

I vote for Steven Blum because, despite his voice being easily recognizable, [in my opinion] I think his voice has a bit of variety in it, unlike Johnny's voice, which I think sounds exactly the same for nearly every character he's played (though I do like his Kiba from Wolf's Rain and Trigun's Vash; I can tolerate his Ichigo and Lelouch as well, but don't like them much). It doesn't mean I don't like Johnny's voice, but I happen to like Blum's voice much better (and for nearly every character he's voiced).

I'm voting for Steve Blum. Sure Johnny was a Power Ranger and other notable voice roles but compare it to Steve, it's a no brainer. Also:

I'm going with Blum and I'd have to disagree from one perspective as far as being too recognizable. You can always hear a hint of people in any role they do. Of course he's recognizable, he's done so many popular roles. If you compare his voice for Spike (which I must say was a wonderful performance)and his voice for Wolverine on Wolverine and the X-Men (just finished watching the 1st season, much enjoyable) you can see his versatility in his voice acting whilst nailing each character's mood and style.

There's just plain no contest here. On the one hand, we have Johnny Yong Bosch and his squeeing fans. On the other, we have Spike, Leeron, TOM, and motherfucking Wolverine. Blum forever, no further discussion necessary.

For me Bosch's shinning moment in voice acting was in Eureka Seven as Renton. Other than that his other voice works seem like he tries to hard to match the character and it ends up coming out as trite(ex:Lelouch). Vote goes to Steve Blum hands down.

I'm gonna go with Steve on this one. There both great but What puts steve over the top for me would be the fact that he's done some of my favorite charcters ever, Roger Smith, Spike, and one of my personal favorits Jamie from Megas XLR.

With Bosch, not considering some of his better roles like Renton in Eureka 7, they either don't put him in the right role or something just seemed off with the performance (like with him as Adachi in Persona 4 left me laughing for all the wrong reasons in certain parts.)

They're both good, but I like Blum's vocal range a lot better. Also, I've been playing MadWorld and Jack has some awesome lines delivered by Mr. Blum himself, so I'm going for that.

I'm a fan of Blum. I grew up in a Blum world. That is probably why I'm voting against him. I've heard his voice in so many shows and it is always instantly recognizable. Bosch on the other hand can play different people without creating the association of the character being the voice actor.

Sometimes watching an anime with Blum is like watching a Samuel L. Jackson or Sean Connery movie. While I love all three actors, they seem to play themselves.

I CANNOT believe how many people are going with Bosch. I like him and all, but I definitely find Blum to be far superior. Almost all of Bosch's roles have had him keep his same voice. And the one time I've heard him do something different (as Renton), I HATED it.

And while you could say something similar about Blum, he's actually done quite a few roles that had him doing something different. I literally shat brix when I saw his Digimon VA record (with Guilmon and one of the Season 3 kids being the biggest mind blowers).

So my vote goes to the vastly superior Blum.

Bosch character roster is impressive , especially Vash who's voice I took an instant liking too.

But Steven Blum wins on so many levels.

I had a little trouble deciding my vote, until I remembered that Blum voiced Toonami's Tom. So, Blum all the way.

Blum. It's a bit of a toss-up, they have a few things in common. They both tend to use the same voice, seem to get typecast into the same roles, but Bosch's characters tend to grate my nerves. Blum's voice is just soothing.

Oh man, the age old debate: Spike Spiegel vs Vash the Stampede!

As much as I LOVE Vash the Stampede, every voice that Bosch does ends up sounding like him. With Blum, he does have that signature sound, but it isn't quite so repetitive. Though it is always more than a little surprising to hear him coming from Wolverine - like, woah, Spike Spiegel is beating up mutant villains!

So...as much as it breaks my heart for Vash - I'll choose Steve Blum.

A genuinely painful choice... but my vote ultimately goes to Steven Blum.

This is for the undefinably great performances as Matsuken, Benjamin Keane, and mahjong player from the game Killer7. I'll never forget the russian roulette and mahjong room scenes. "What's a country?," indeed...

Steve Blum peoples,i am sorry but bosch has done a few good roles(in fact in a video game i love he played the main character to a T and i LOVED him for it;Devil May Cry 4 he played Nero) but honestly his renton and lelouch hurt me so.Mostly lelouch his renton wasnt too bad.

Also Steve does a fine spike and many others and his Leeron WAS AWSOME,he actualy gave me goosebumps!

He's the only guy I've ever been able to ask an autograph from with such a strange array of character roles from the Ah! My Goddess Movie to Ace Combat 5...

Blum. I've never been more impressed by a voice actor than I was when i first heard his work in Bebop. It may have just been that the character was perfectly suited to him, but it still works too well to overlook. If it weren't for just that one role, I woudn't be so certain.

Steven Jay Blum hands down. I met him back in 2007 at Otakon and he's really nice to his fans. Hell, I got two autographs off of him AND a kickass Kazuma ringtone.

Also, it should be stated that he's also Jack from Madworld and he was TOM from Toonami. How can you not mention that?
