I would have to go with Light because of the fact that Miyano's personality is dorky as it is, so, Tamaki's role for him wouldn't have been as hard. Since Light's personality is a complete opposite of Tamaki's, it would take more skills to pull off Light's role.

The roles are different by a large margin so the voice acting is hard to judge but I would say Takaki is probably better acted.

Light is a freaking sadistic! He's evil! Some of the things he comes up with is just nothing short of absolute pure genious! I never have seen him sobbing over some girl that rejected him or something of the sort because he can get any girl he wants! Why? He's smart, has great personality/charm, and apparently has the looks that girls go for. Maybe I missed the part where he wanted to slit his wrists or something! I don't know! Why didn't anyone tell me? He killed so many people, and he really didn't care when his sister was about to die and was very close to killing her with just a morsel of reluctance. His dad died, right? Yeah, he put on a sobbing act for everyone, but he really wasn't. Even before he got the Death Note, in the first episode, he wasn't emo, he was just bored, and sick and tired of the statis quo.

He's not particulary smart or anything, but he's just clever enough to lock horns with some of the world's smartest (L, Mello, Near), and well...I'd rather not spoil that part here.

Why?! Why do you torture me so?!?!? These are my two favorite characters played by one of my favorite seiyuu!

I would have to go with Light. Tamaki may provide comic relief, but one of the reasons why I think Miyano gave such an amazing performance as Light because he understood what was going on even when the story became a little complex. Plus (SPOILER!) when Light lost his memory by discarding the Death Note, he made a good transition from sly, evil genius to kind, innocent genius.

Tamaki! Only because I've only seen a few episodes of DN before it was licensed.

Mamoru Miyano voicing Tamaki is partly the reason I dislike the Death Note anime... Tamaki and Light are complete opposites and in the anime version, Light is even more cynical than the manga version (which I am about to finish with the last volume) and just throws me totally off. I like Tamaki way better (and Ouran is truly a nice piece of comedy & slice of life).

Tamaki. The voice actor had so much more range with this character. Plus he is my hero.

Besides, Tamaki only 'flirts' .....Light actually got some, even though he didn't care about them at all. And that's why he's so great (that, and he killed a whole bunch of people).
