Vis-metal band Versailles now known as Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet- photo

You've seen a bit of talk here on Japanator about my favorite visual epic metal band Versailles (check out my review of Noble in this month's Otaku USA Magazine). Well, those days are over!

That's right, you'll never hear me praise their blistering guitar work or expound on the merits of their vast songwriting style. Why? Well, why don't I let HearJapan.com do the explaining:

HearJapan.com is proud to announce the new name of the band formerly known as Versailles in the United States.  As many of you already know, the band formerly known as Versailles was forced to change their name do to a legal reason in the United States.  After asking their fans for help in deciding a new name for the United States, the band received a mountain of submissions. By combining a few of the submissions, the addition of "Philharmonic Quintet" to the band name was decided by the band.  Thus, the official name of the band in the US is now "Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-".  The new name evokes two important aspects of the band.  The philharmonic aspect alludes to lovers of harmony and quintet alludes to the band's five members.

Versailles is dead! Long live Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-! Best of all, you can go to their listing on HearJapan.com and download their new single for free!. I just jumped over and grabbed it. It was very easy, and the track is rather nice. Nothing too over-the-top, but pleasantly restrained and pretty. Go check it out! Read the full release with some more information for the hardcore fans after the jump.

Also one quick reminder: HearJapan.com has provided free 1000yen and 4000yen prizes for the Japanator Radio contest, so this might be even more insentive for you metal-heads to submit your name!
