Viz to release latest Evangelion manga same day as JapanThis is interesting: Viz just sent out a release noting that they'll be participating in a simultaneous release of Neon Genesis Evangelion Vol. 13 with Japan. The title will be available in stores and on the Viz Manga app on November 2nd. It's nice to see that Viz is making a great effort to serve fans as best as it can when it comes to day-and-date releases. They've been moving things up with their Shonen Jump Alpha, and the Great Leap Forward they made when it came to publishing reams and reams of One Piece in order to catch up with the Japanese market. I guess the biggest challenge for Viz is deciding which titles will see the greatest benefit from this sort of release. Certainly, many of their smaller titles on SigIKKI won't see this sort of release, but all the bigger named ones will. For those of you who have always complained about the US versions being so far behind, how does this stack up to meeting your expectations? And which titles do all of you suggest Viz give the same-day treatment to in the future? San Francisco, CA, June 4, 2012 – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), the largest distributor and licensor of manga and anime in North America, will participate in the upcoming same-day worldwide release of Volume 13 of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION on November 2nd. The newest volume of the acclaimed sci-fi action manga (graphic novel) series (rated ‘T+’ for Older Teens) will hit retailers across North America and will carry an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. The volume will also be available on VIZManga.com and the VIZ Manga App for the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod® touch, and will be available for $4.99 U.S. / CAN. NEON GENESIS EVANGELION (rated ‘T+’ for Older Teens) is series co-creator Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's personal interpretation of the Evangelion characters and story is sure to intrigue new and old fans alike. In 2015, the "Angels" have returned, and Shinji Ikari, a fourteen year-old child of the new Earth, is forced by his father Gendo – commander of the secret organization NERV – to pilot the monstrous biomechanical weapon called "Evangelion" to match the Angels' fearsome power... In Volume 13, as mankind tilts on the brink of the Third Impact, human feelings are fault lines; good, for cracking the world open, or bad, to be welded forever shut. Once Shinji didn’t care about anything; then he found people to fight for – only to learn that he couldn’t protect them, or keep those he let into his heart from going away. The world hangs in the balance as Asuka fights to survive an onslaught of Evas determined to destroy her. Shinji rushes to help but he may be too late – deep inside the NERV command center, Dr. Ikari is about to set in motion the last act of the Instrumentality Project. Everything has gone according to Ikari’s plans so far, but even he cannot foresee the role Shinji will play in determining the future! “NEON GENESIS EVANGELION is one of the most celebrated series of all time and enjoys a massive international fan base,” says Leyla Aker, Vice President, Publishing. “We hope to give North American fans something special by making the newest volume available the same day as its debut in Japan. The climactic battle of the series has started, so the tension and action in this installment are definitely not to be missed!” For more information on NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, please visit: www.viz.com/neon-genesis-evangelion.
