Here I am in beautiful Miami, and instead of soaking in the rays in this lovely 80 degree weather, I'm writing up our next Otaku Debate. Something just seems wrong about that, but I figure it's about time for a new one.

Our last debate was our first ever J-drama debate and I kind of hate myself for having picked two of my absolute favorites right off the bat. I fully expected Hana Yori Dango to take the debate hands down, but much to my surprise, Nodame Cantabile  won by roughly a 2:1 margin. Maybe it's the music?

I know, I'm evil. Toradora! or Kimi ni Todoke? Both are absolutely adorable, and while one of them has been around for awhile, the other is just starting to capture our hearts.

On one hand, it hardly seems fair. I want to believe that everyone is just going to vote for the flavor of the month--namely Kimi ni Todoke, which just started airing in Japan, and has just recently hit our bookshelves. But on the other hand, Toradora! was huge with the fans. Hell, Dale even compared Taiga's popularity to that of Haruhi.

Maybe it's an even match then. In some ways they're very similar. They're both romantic comedies of sorts. In others, they're not. The characters in each series are practically polar opposites. So, which one do you love most?

It is a bit early for Kimi ni Todoke, but really, the end of Toradora just killed it for me. It was horrible and it ruined a perfectly good show otherwise.

With that, I have to go with Kimi ni Todoke for how well it's doing right now.

Toradora! gets my vote. Was just a great anime, I personally couldn't get into Kimi ni Todoke.

It's too early. Toradora, on the whole, is better than what I've seen from Kimi thus far.

This one's really hard. I don't think I can cast my vote just yet -- I need another episode of Kimi ni Todoke and more Toradora in order to do this one.

I've already read enough Kimi ni Todoke to realize it's awesome. And Toradora... Well, it's awesome too.

It's too hard to cast a vote.

I have to go with Toradora! for now. To be fair, I am really enjoying Kimi ni Todoke, but the story is still pretty surface-level, with no back-story or revelations to make the characters truly three-dimensional. You should redo this poll at the end of the first season and see how people vote then.

Toradora

Kimi ni is nice so far (I've only seen 2 episodes, and read one volume of manga). While I see myself liking a lot, I don't see it (yet) making it's way in to my all time top 5 like Toradora did so magnificently.

So far I see myself more comparing Kimi Ni to Love*Com. Don't know why, maybe its the slight art similarity. But that's what my poll would have been.

Toradora for me. I have to agree I wasn't particularly fond of the ending but overall I enjoyed the anime and I just can't get into Kimi ni Todoke.

Tough Choice, both are great series.

I'd have to give the nod to Toradora! at this point. It's sort of unfair, considering Kimi ni Todoke hasn't run it's course yet.

But yeah, Toradora! ....for now!

Waaaaaay to early seeing as Kimi Ni Todoke is still airing. I love both shows though, so I'm going to vote GaoGaiGar in the meantime.

Toradora! if only because there will be an obvious gender disparity between the two choices and I'm supposed to choose this one. Also, who can resist Ms. Saimoe. I like Kimi ni Todoke, but it's still too early and I can only see it having potential and without any lasting impression yet.

Gotta go with Toradora. Kimi no Todoke is thus far a good but predictable plot, Toradora held my attention with unique characters and plot.

Kimi ni Todoke gets my vote.

I don't especially like tsundere characters, nor entire shows based around the subject. Toradora was okay, but not great. Kimi ni Todoke is okay for now, but still has the potential to be great.

I am enjoying the first four episodes that have been released so far for Kimi ni Todoke more so then I ever enjoyed Toradora. KNT gets my vote hands down.

As much as I love tigeress Taiga and ToraDora, Kimi Ni Todoke such a more enjoyable experience coming from reading the manga in conjunction with the perfect anime adaptation currently airing. Another factor is I have not finished Kimi Ni Todoke and its my fav show this season. Toradora was my fav show of its season but the ending felt like pretty much a cop out.

Way too early to compare them. Toradora became fantastic after several episodes. Kimi ni Todoke is just finding its feet. But I still wonder about its potential. I vote Toradora!

I fucking loved Toradora, the kiss scene was honestly one of the best I've seen. Kimi Ni Todoke is shaping up to be an amazing show, but I have no idea how its going to end.

I'm betraying Minori, but my vote goes for Kimi ni Todoke. Not really fair to put up a complete series against one whose fifth episode just came out, but KnT gets my vote because of Toradora's terrible ending.
