Blu-rays may have won the war to succeed the DVD, but they haven't quite gained the level of market penetration they need. It'll take a LOT more quality content to get burned on those discs for consumers to justify the relatively high cost of buying a blu-ray as well as of buying Blu-Ray players (or Playstation 3s).
To this end, Japan's Blu-ray Disc Association has decided to let otaku in on the decision process, asking them to vote on which series they'd most like to see get a Blu-ray release. Among the contenders are Valkyria Chronicles, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi (though I wonder if you'd buy eight of the same episode), and the king, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Click here to cast your vote, and hit the jump for the full list of candidates. Note that these are only for Japanese releases, and as such makes no guarantees for English-speaking fans. Still, voting for an already-licensed show might increase its chances of getting a high-def makeover on this side of the Pacific
Me? I'm in it for Gurren Lagann. Just look at that header image! Imagine such an amazing difference from TV to DVD fully rendered in high-definition. What do you want to see in HD?
