We haven't even known about the new super-slim PS3 for that long, but we've already got two custom console designs coming to Japan. The first is the eye-catching gold console on the right, which will be releasing alongside the upcoming Yakuza 5. The unit comes with the gold controller seen next to it and a copy of Yakuza 5, as well as an 8mb USB flash drive (wow!) and a Yakuza themed beach towel. You'll be able to pick this up on December 6th, and it'll retail for 37,800 yen (a cool $480).
The other will be released to coincide with Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2, and it comes with the big dipper themed controller, a copy of the game, a smart phone case (what?) and a downloadable costume. This one isn't going to cost you as much as the Yakuza system, but it'll still dent your bank balance with the hefty price of 33,170 yen (just $425!).
I'm sure there are fans out there that'll really enjoy these bundles, but I'm not sure any kind of custom look can sell me on the new PS3 model. It just looks so flimsy and cheap, and while I'm sure that measures had to be made in order to cut down the production costs enough to lower the retail price, I think I'd rather pay extra for one of the older models. You know, assuming I didn't already have a PS3 anyway. If you don't already have a PS3, are you interested in getting one of these, or perhaps even the regular model?
