While I find it a bit strange that they waited until now to send out the official press release regarding the event, it appears that the X-Japan video shoot scheduled on January 9th is definitely going to happen. Like we had mentioned before, an open invitation has been issued to American fans who wish to participate.
The announcement didn't cover details such as the time and exact location of the shoot, it confirmed that four videos will indeed be shot on the streets of Hollywood and that anyone who wants to attend will need to pre-register at the jrocknation.com website for admittance and further details.
This doesn't really inform us of anything we didn't already know, but the release was worded in a manner which could imply that X-Japan's focus in 2010 might shift to North America. Until now, they've toured primarily in East Asia and select countries in Europe. Of course, any number of factors could prevent a US tour, and god forbid I actually get my hopes up. After all, it's not like it'd be the first time they'd give us a rain check. I suppose the most fans can do now is cross their fingers.
