Yen Press isn't giving out subscriptions to Yen Plus just yet photo

Neb's blog got word back from Yen Press in regards to their much-awaited Yen Plus magazine. The magazine is scheduled to come out on July 29th, but there hadn't been any word in regards to subscribing to the magazine. Well, Yen Press finally responded with the details for their magazine:

  • A year’s subscription to Yen Plus (yes, twelve full 400+ page issues!) will cost only $49.95! And only $59.95 for our good friends in Canada! That’s over 50% off the cover price!!!

  • Subscriptions will be available starting with the second issue of Yen Plus. But don’t fear, the first issue will be sold at major retailers nationwide! Newsstand prices are $8.99 in the U.S., $9.99 in Canada, and £3.99 in the U.K.!

  • Subscriptions will only be available in the U.S. and Canada (for now).

Gia has been rather excited for this, and I'm rather tempted to drop the money myself on it. I'd rather not pay $9 every month, and so a $50 subscription seems just fine. Anyone else going for it?

Most Yen Press stuff is always full of win. Ive never purchased any anime mags cause the price too high (like Newtype for $12 per issue $100+ for a subscription) or that most of the stuff in it is crap I dont care about. But since Yen Plus has a good subscription price and has stuff im interested in *coughsundomecough*, this sounds good.

I've wanted to try out Bamboo Blade for a while (never got around to the subs), and so this should provide a good opportunity.

Soul Eater is really the only thing I want to check out out of their list of stuff. I'm moving out of the country in 2 months though, so no subscription for me. ^^

Dick, my impression of the first third of BB (the only part I got through) is that it's a decent character show but a piss-poor kendo anime. When I say piss-poor, I mean the characters (all of them :/) don't even hold their shinai correctly, and that's just the surface of it. The rest of the show wasn't really anything special, so I passed in favor of other things.

To be honest none of those series particularly cater to my tastes, but don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I think they're bad. Heck, I'll probably end up subscribing anyway...it sounds cool enough. (It's like a shounen jump for people who are sick of boring mainstream shounen!)

$50 isn't bad, and from the few episodes of Bamboo Blade I've seen, I wouldn't mind reading some of the manga.
