YES: K-ON! manga relaunch to cover HTT's college years photo

YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES.

The new comic launches in Manga Time Kirara May 11th, and stars Yui, Ritsu, Mio and Mugi as they go through life at university. The next Genshiken? I think so.

Also launching in Manga Time Kirara Carat is another manga that covers Azusa, Jun and Yui's sister Ui as they carry the light music club's torch through their last year in high school.

Surely, a third season of the anime is to follow the movie, set for December 3rd. It will happen, unless some kind of meteor hits Japan or North Korea invades or something.

I totally called it.

[Thanks, Nelson!]

May the power of moe burn our brains in!
^ LOL. Funny yet appropriate.
As I predicted as well, Hey I love your header image, got a wall paper sized version of that or something like that? I particularly like the hnnnnggg with K-on girls in the background. :P

I don't have enough gifs to properly convey my frustration.

in short: LET K-ON DIE ALREADY >:U
Yes yes yes!!! I didnt know the high school one was the junior K-on! girls. they are totally gonna animate this cant wait.
I justrealised they wont be in uniforms for College, thats kind of a shame but also brings up a lot of possibilities :D
For the love of god, Stop Milking this franchise! It's like the Call of Duty of Anime.

I'm not gonna denied that I will read that Manga just to see if they get laid or something but a movie, a 3rd season and a Spin off?

You know what I like about Lucky Star? Except for the OVA and the upcoming musical (AGAIN, WHAT THE HELL) they let die that series in peace. I really enjoyed that.

This makes my inside hater burn!

>inb4 U mad brah?

@squishy Try some ToraDora! beat'em up images instead then.

GLORIO
Must be the lowest standard college in all of Japan.
Yay! :D
This should have belonged to Lucky Star! WTFFFFFF....
Why do we hate K-ON! again exactly?

I don't seem to get the hate around it. Is it just because it's Moe?
So much joy. I can't wait to smile until my face hurts and my cold heart warms up again.
I can't help but wonder what terrible college would accept a student as unbelievably unintelligent as Yui.

And the next Genshiken? Don't you even dare compare those two. One is a goddamn masterpiece and a down-to-earth examination of otaku culture, the other, well, I'm not going to even give it the satisfaction of my opinion.
Hell yes!
As a Defender of the Hokago Tea Time, I'm thrilled at this news. But I wonder....I just wonder.... is College a "Moe" enough setting? (It sure as hell wasn't when I was there.) Let the Internets resound with a Glorious "GLORIO" cheer!

Anywho, if the Lucky Star manga continues into the main cast's college years, then they should TOTALLY do a Cross Over one-shot or something. Could you imagine?
@Shiro: People think it's cute and funny, and other people don't think it's cute and funny. Hilarity ensues.
Also, I echo matty's sentiment.
Something tells me people are likely judging the manga based on the anime...
this is made of pure win in every since of the word and @danzflor really? your going to compare a crappy shooter to k-on? you should be ashamed of yourself sir. anyway this should be good i'll look forward to the 3rd season
Wouldn't it be awesome if the College Years turned out to be a serious drama? Tensions rise as Yui and Ritsu wanna drop out and start a band, Mio falls for some guy from the bad part of town, Mugi finally comes out of the closet... yeah that won't happen but I could see a rise-to-stardom type of story, that'd be cool... OK fine, they're probably just gonna drink tea and worry about their grades again.
@jel
Of course it'll be a rise to stardom story. Those pro-looking music videos they use for the Ed animations are glimpses at the future!
Hah, in any case I can't wait to see my favorites again. I am counting the days till I can watch the movie, all this other stuff is good material but will have to steep for a good two years before a good series comes of it.
Actually I'm quite happy with this but the moeblob is facepalm.gif
@Josh
I kid I kid I would love to see the Rise of HTT, I just hope they stop teasing us and go though with it already
The Saga Continues...
*starts humming Star Wars theme*
Well, this is the best possible way to start out my week. Nothing is going to top this new guys. Nothing.
lmao sweet.. please make it the serious drama, that would put a twist on our moe XD
What the?? Not one, but TWO sequels? That image implies that Kakifly will be doing both at the same time. Isn't that difficult?

Well, I'm looking forward to it. *laughs at Taiga/Stitch/some Durarara character's pain*
Don't make me do it.... Don't make me do it!!!!

MAAAAAAAAGGGGAAAAAAAAAARRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

^Random K-On fan.
This is as expected in my opinion.
Eh, why not. So... K-ON!!!: The Next Generation? K-ON!!!: Deep Space Nine? What're we calling these things?
Hope Yen Press gets the license for the college years and the spin-off. And people can say what they will about the K-On! anime but the manga is actually funny as a 4-koma.

@Danzflor

Maybe on the anime front but the Lucky Star manga is still on-going in Japan and being released in the U.S. by Bandai.
Just combine everyone else's gif images and then you'll have mine.
Quickly: BURN IT WITH FIRE!
While I saw this coming awhile ago it's nice to see that we are not gonna have to deal with Azusa if we don't want to(I never liked her and it's nice that she will be in her own side story so we don't have to be forced to endure her if we don't want to).

As much as people are gonna hate on it despite not being worth doing so. I find it very interesting this is happening. There are very few shows or manga that continue to follow the characters past High School and into University and I'm wondering if we will see any real changes to how the whole thing works or if it will still be K-ON! in a different school.

What I would really like to know now is if it will get to the point when the girls are out of college and if they pursue their dreams as a band and that would be when the story would get REALLY interesting. I guess time will tell.
I can't wait to see the results of the gang taking Philosophy 101; or to have guest cameos by Fukuyama Jun playing Hugh Laurie playing Christopher Hitchens giving a lecture on world history becoming the advisor attached to HTT.
WINNING
number 1. oh hell yes.

number 2. I think most people misunderstand K-On!, thus the hatred. It was not really an anime about a band, as much as it is the story of being in a band. 75% of what happens in a band happens while not playing music, and is the best part of the whole band experience.
MOTHERFUCKING K-ON FOR LIFE
About acceptance, the girls probably just got into the Japanese equivalent of Eastern Illinois University :P I'm sure even in Japan there exists the entity known as the safety school.
By peoples reactions I'm not sure if I should now watch this anime, or run screaming from it.
@NilesRevenge

I have to imagine that 4komas are easy enough to be able to do multiples.
K-on goes to college, YAY! :D

Should have been Lucky Star though.
@Ahiru77 and anyone else that don't know the differences between anime and manga. The Lucky Star manga has nothing to do with the K-on! manga. They are made by 2 diffident mangaka. Also the Lucky Star manga is still on going in Japan along with several spin-off manga and novels.
I also forgot to say that the new K-on! mangas also has nothing to do with Lucky Star not getting a anime.
I seriously didn't think this would happen
fuck
yes
dreams come true

You might of heard that there is a new streaming site that has just launched out of Japan. It is being backed by some big names in the anime world like Aniplex, Sunrise, and Toei. What could that exactly mean for you, you ask? Well, let me let Eri Maruyama (International Business Development) at DAISUKI answer that as well as many more burning questions that I had about the new service.
