17-Bit's Galak-Z headed to PlayStation Vita

A Macross-inspired 2D exploration shooter

In a recent posting on PlayStation.Blog, developer 17-BIT revealed plans to port their upcoming 2D shooter Galak-Z: The Dimensional to PlayStation Vita -- the game had been previously confirmed for PlayStation 4 and PC. Announced at E3 2013, Galak-Z combines rogue-like skill progression, with elements of exploration and top-down shooter action. The result could even be considered by some to be the natural evolution of the shooter genre.

It never hurts to have another Vita game to look forward to -- especially considering the drought we've all been experiencing since launch. While there have been plenty of games that have piqued my interest since launch, even I have to admit that most of them could be considered niche at best. Fortunately, Galak-Z looks as though it'll have little trouble attracting an audience. Both shooters and rogue-likes are capable of appealing to a wider audience, while its Macross-inspired anime-dressings should service as a sweet little bonus for fans like myself. Let's just hope they announce a release date soon.
