2020 Tokyo Olympics new logo search down to final four

Replacement logo on the way

At least one of the major issues that have plagued the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo will be resolved later this month as the search for a new logo has narrowed down to four.

As we've posted before, The Olympic games of Tokyo have had both its Stadium plans and official logo plans scrapped after the controversy surrounding the games. While the original stadium design was rejected for looking like a bicycle helmet or a child's training potty, a new plan was rushed into action and screwed up the budget more than it already was.

Meanwhile, the official logo for the games was also scrapped after it was alleged that the designer plagiarized Belgian Designer Olivier Debie

Over 330 new designs were submitted and this week the four finalists were announced. Tokyo emblem Committee chairman Yohei Miyata stated, "All of these designs have all been cleared of copyright both domestically and abroad."

These are the four choices:

The Harmonized Checkered Emblem

Connecting Circle, Expanding Harmony

Surpassing One's Personal Best

Flowering of Emotions

All four designs are very interesting concepts. People are encouraged to share their opinions and learn about the meaning of each design here. The committee are accepting opinion forms until April 17. The final design will be announced later this month.

Funny enough, a design of Kaneda riding his cycle didn't make it through. I wonder what they could be hiding, eh? Get used to the Akira jokes, as we still got four more years to go.
