Add Studio Ghibli's best to your vinyl collection

Audiophiles and animephiles unite

Does music really sound better when you play it off vinyl? I'm too much of a musical philistine to answer that question, but what I can say is that if you're the type to collect records and also happen to be the type who loves the works of Studio Ghibli, then this story's for you!

Mondo has just announced that they're putting together Studio Ghibli Koyko Kyokushu, a compilation of music selected from five different Ghibli films and performed by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The films include Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Cat Returns, and My Neighbors The Yamadas. You can check out the specific tracks below.

Even if you're not exactly a music lover, there's a reason to covet these Ghibli goods. Three collectible versions of the album are available, with custom art on the covers from artist Tyler Stout and based on Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle. And judging by the samples in the gallery, that art looks good

The Howl's Moving Castle version is available at the San Diego Comic-Con, but all should be open for purchase starting July 26th at Mondo's site.

How about you? Any of you vinyl hounds out for some sweet Ghibli in your selection?
