Adidas hearts Pokémon with their latest promotion

Hint: Snorlax is a great goalkeeper

As we get closer to the 2014 World Cup, expect to see a ton of sponsorship announcements in your local news. Let's face it: one of the world's largest sporting events is a great time to promote your product. That of course goes for a company like Adidas, which has a pretty strong foothold on soccer and sports in general. So how do you get an audience's attention in places where soccer might not be huge? Well, adding a huge electric mouse might work.

The sports giant is pushing the Japanese soccer team jerseys on various Pokemon, as you can see from the header. What does this mean? Well, there'll probably be a bunch of timely merch that'll be available for fans to buy, but the scope of this team-up is unknown. I'd expect various toys, clothing, that sort of thing. Who knows what else they'll tie in to get Japanese audiences watching this Summer?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind me a plush Fennekin with a Japanese soccer jersey. That'd be pretty damn cute.
