All You Need is Kill film adaptation looks amazing

I can't wait

When I first heard that Hiroshi Sakurazaka's classic sci-fi light novel, All You Need is Kill was getting the Hollywood treatment, I got a bit worried. It was initially announced that Brad Pitt was attached to the film as the leading man, and while he's not bad to look at, I don't really dig him as an actor. Not too long after, there was some director swapping, and Tom Cruise landed the spot of the leading man, and the title had been changed to Edge of Tomorrow.

You hear a lot of rumors about anime and manga adaptations never coming to fruition, so I wasn't holding my breath for this one. In fact, I was little about how the material would be handled. Although I'm a pretty big Tom Cruise fan, I couldn't imagine him pulling off some Homura-esque role.

I have to say I'm totally blown away by the trailer. While they usually only show the best stuff, what we see looks fantastic. In fact, the film looks just like I had actually imagined it, it maybe looks cooler than I had hoped! It's quite a while until the June 6, 2014 release date, but this is one film that I'll definitely catch opening night!

What do you guys think? With Godzilla also coming soon, is 2014 the year Hollywood handles Japanese adaptations correctly?
