And the award for the most downloaded series in the world goes to…

One Piece! According to NewTeeVee, One Piece is the number one downloaded show in the entire internets for the last week of June. We live in a great time now, one could even call it the great age of the pirates because bit torrenting shows is becoming a new popular means for watching your favorite program. Measuring a show’s popularity on broadcast TV has been done for awhile via Nielsen Ratings, but now in the age of the pirates new sites and groups are starting to gauge how popular shows are by how many people watch them via torrents.

NewTeeVee tells us that these, “Rankings are based on global download volumes as measured by swarm sizes, swarm speeds and file sizes. These data reflect the collective global popularity of all available show content from all seasons current and past, not just the most recent broadcast.” This all comes down to having a large number of episodes like One Piece, which plays an important role in this calculation. Funny thing is One Piece is the only anime listed on this list, no Naruto, no Bleach, and absolutely no Inuyasha.

Congratulations One Piece, you truly deserve this time in the lime light. For all those who haven’t watched it, listen to the billions upon billions of people who have watched it and give it a shot; because if it’s dirty enough for Indonesia, it’s dirty enough for you. See the entire top twenty list after the jump.
