Anime Boston '11: FUNimation licenses Fairy Tale and more

Fans of "fourth pillar" shonen anime Fairy Tail -- a.k.a. Kristina -- will be ecstatic to hear that FUNimation has finally licensed the popular series. And unlike the normal license/release process, FUNimation will be putting it out on DVD and Blu-ray as soon as this fall. How exciting! With FUNimation also owning the license for One Piece, now the two shows can be inappropriately compared even easier!

FUNimation's other announcements included the actual, official confirmation of Shin Chan season three coming this summer, something that was previously only a hope. The company also picked up the rights to release the Taiwanese live action film The Treasure Hunter in winter 2011.

Finally, FUNimation closed out its panel by announcing its impending simulcast of Aria the Scarlet Ammo. Episodes one and two will be available on FUNimation's video site starting this Tuesday at 10AM.

Fun side note: FUNimation's series of charity auctions, Relief for Japan, has raised over $9,000. Is this awesome? y/n
