Anime Central 2014 brings Angela, WUG, host of great guests

Waking up to the third largest anime con in North America

Anime Central, the third largest anime convention in the US and Canada, serves as the big bump to get things started for this year's anime convention circuit. It kicks off Friday and runs through the weekend. And big conventions tend to draw good attractions.

A long list of Japanese, European and American guests will accompany music acts Angela, upcoming anime idol team Wake Up, Girls, and a couple sessions of "A New World: Intimate Music from Final Fantasy" via a chamber orchestra with Nobuo Uematsu and Arnie Roth. Notable illustrator Yoshitoshi ABe (Lain, anyone?) will join director Yutaka Yamamoto and producer Hiroaki Takeuchi as anime production guests from Japan. UK author and old school otaku Helen McCarthy also makes her usual US con appearance at ACEN, along with other familiar faces like H.Naoto and Sixh.IBI. There's also ACEN's Hardcore Synergy show that brings together US and Japanese DJs for its epic raves.

With ACEN 2014 upon us, Japanator will do our best to get some coverage at the Chicago-area convention while battling brisk Spring-like temperatures. Anyone else going?
