Another Century's Episode R probably not coming here too

Sure, you've got the evergreen Super Robot Taisen games, but those games don't take themselves seriously enough. They've got all kinds of unnecessary things like characters and strategy and stories. Thankfully, the masters of robot mashups at Banpresto have you covered with the Another Century's Episode games.

Basically the action-game equivalent of the Super Robot Taisen titles, ACE games gather a selection of popular mecha to beat the crap out of each other, but in a totally serious business manner. You can tell just from the heavily detailed, hyper "realistic" opening movies. It's no surprise that From Software, the Armored Core people handle the series.

Now Namco Bandai are taking it to current platforms with Another Century's Episode R for the PS3, a game that is unlikely to make it stateside for the same licensing nightmare situations that prevent core Super Robot Taisen games from crossing the pond. Which, of course, is disappointing, given that several new franchises are making a first-time appearance. In addition to the usual Gundam and Macross suspects, ACE:R's robot stable will include Arm Slaves from Full Metal Panic and Vectors from Genesis of Aquarion. Most intriguing (and infuriating), however, is the addition of the famous KnightMare Frames of the Code Geass universe.
