Asuka polystone kit is jaw-droppingly beautiful

[As posted at Tomopop by Leah Bayer]

Asuka Langley Shikinami, the original tsundere, is my favorite girl from Evangelion. Yes, Rei is all mysterious and Misato wears those teeny shorts, but I am a sucker for red hair and an attitude. There have been a ton of figures of her released already (over 200, including trading figures), but the most recent offering from Aizu Project may be my favorite to date. Everything about this design is spot-on--the sculpt, the coloring, the pose. Her face is what draws me in, as it really captures one of the rare moments in the show when she is not yelling at/hitting someone. And after watching End of Evangelion, every figure in which she is smiling makes me feel a little bit better about the whole ripped-to-shreds thing.

This Asuka was released for Evangelion 2.0 You Can (not) Advance, but honestly her outfit looks identical to the one she wears in the show. Then again, the first movie was scene-for-scene the same as the first few episodes. I have yet to see Eva 2.0, but apparently it does indeed bring something new to the table--just not new school uniforms. The Evangelion cash cow does not look to be running out of milk anytime soon. As long as there are people like me who adore the characters, figures will be made. So pretty much until we all turn 90.

Asuka is a 1/6th scale pre-painted and assembled kit, so you don't have to worry about paint and glue! No word on pricing, but don't be surprised if she is over 10,000 yen. Anyone else dying to get their hands on this figure when she comes out in April, 2010?
